Miguel Adolfo Cubas Contreras (born December 2, 1964 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a well known Venezuelan actor.
Miguel Adolfo Cubas Contreras was born on December 2, 1964 in Caracas, Venezuela. He grew up in a conservative family. Cubas wanted to become a priest and he attended a Catholic seminar school with that purpose in mind, but he left the school after two years. He has admitted that later on as a teenager, he attempted to commit suicide.
Adolfo Cubas has a daughter who was born in 1987. Adolfo Cubas divorces in 1998. In 2005, a brain tumor was removed that nearly ended his life. Once recovered, he had to endure criticism for having publicly thanked the former president Hugo Chávez for his help because the insurance did not cover the intervention and he could not pay for it, being Chávez the one who had him operated at the Hospital Militar Dr. Carlos Arvelo. In 2010, he had a controversy for having had a relationship with Ricky Martin. On May 18, 2013 he became the godfather of a girl named Roiderlyn Martínez.
Adolfo Cubas started to become involved in the entertainment world when he met and made a friendship with members of Los Chamos, a famous 1980s boy band. Cubas led Carlos Baute to become involved in Los Chamos. Cubas also became a friend of Menudo's Ricky Martin. From 1984 to 1987, Cubas himself became a member of Los Chamos. In 1987, Cubas made his telenovela debut, participating in Mi amada Beatriz . From 1988 to 1989, he was part of the cast of the television series Abigail . Cubas participated in two other telenovelas before he joined Guillermo Dávila and Sonya Smith in 1992's Cara Sucia one of Venevision's most famous telenovelas of all time. He shaved his head and has participated in seventeen other film productions since. Cubas participated in a Playboy Channel Latino production which was recorded in Peru.

Carlos Andrés Pérez Rodríguez also known as CAP and often referred to as El Gocho, was a Venezuelan politician and the president of Venezuela from 12 March 1974 to 12 March 1979 and again from 2 February 1989 to 21 May 1993. He was one of the founders of Acción Democrática, the dominant political party in Venezuela during the second half of the twentieth century. His first presidency was known as the Saudi Venezuela due to its economic and social prosperity thanks to enormous income from petroleum exportation. However, his second presidency saw a continuation of the economic crisis of the 1980s, a series of social crises, widespread riots known as Caracazo and two coup attempts in 1992. In May 1993 he became the first Venezuelan president to be forced out of office by the Supreme Court on charges for the embezzlement of 250 million bolívars belonging to a presidential discretionary fund, whose money was used to support the electoral process in Nicaragua and hire bodyguards for President Violeta Chamorro.

The Venezuelan coup attempts of 1992 were attempts to seize control of the government of Venezuela by the Hugo Chávez-led Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200 (MBR-200). The first coup attempt took place on 4 February 1992, and was led by Chávez. A second coup attempt on 27 November 1992, took place while Chávez was in prison but was directed by a group of young military officers who were loyal to the MBR-200. The coups were directed against President Carlos Andrés Pérez and occurred in a period marked by economic liberalization reforms, which were attempted in order to decrease the country's level of indebtedness and had caused major protests and social unrest. Despite their failure to depose the government of Carlos Andrés, the February coup attempts brought Chávez into the national spotlight. Fighting during the coups resulted in the deaths of at least 143 people and perhaps as many as several hundred.

It was extremely popular in Venezuela, due to its very realistic approach to the day-to-day life of the country and local tone. For example, it showed the impact on poor people's lives of the intermittent water supply, showing community meetings and lovers' trysts cut short by the news that the water was on, sending everyone running to fill storage tanks and barrels.
