HVDC Vancouver Island is a de-energized high-voltage direct current interconnection owned by BC Hydro that runs between Arnott Substation (ARN) in Delta, British Columbia at 49°5′31″N123°2′31″W on the Canadian mainland, and the Vancouver Island Terminal (VIT) in Duncan, British Columbia on Vancouver Island at 48°49′39″N123°42′55″W. It went into operation in 1968 and was extended in 1977. HVDC Vancouver Island consists of three overhead line sections with a total length of 42 kilometres and two submarine cable sections with a length of 33 kilometres. Pole 1 ceased operation in 2014, and Pole 2 ceased operation in 2016. The infrastructure remains in place and portions may be re-used in the future.
Welsh HVDC Converter Station is an HVDC back-to-back station connected between the J. Robert Welsh Power Plant and the Oncor Electric Delivery substation at the Monticello Steam Electric Station in Titus County, northeastern Texas. It went in service in 1995 and it can transfer a maximum power of 600 megawatts. It was built for AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) in 1995 by Siemens and operates at 170 kV DC. It is tied to the 345 kV 60 Hz AC grids of the ERCOT and SPP. ERCOT documents refer to this link as the "East DC Tie". It uses electrically triggered thyristors, each with a rating of 5.5 kV.
Bundesautobahn 2 is an autobahn in Germany that connects the Ruhr area in the west to Berlin in the east. The A 2 starts at the junction with the A3 near the western city of Oberhausen, passes through the north of the Ruhr valley, through the Münsterland and into Ostwestfalen, crossing the former inner German border and continuing through the Magdeburger Börde to merge into the Berliner Ring shortly before reaching Berlin. Major cities such as Magdeburg, Braunschweig, Hannover and Dortmund are situated very close to the A 2. The A 2 is one of the most important autobahns, connecting several large industrial areas with each other.

The Vyborg HVDC scheme is a system of electricity transmission from the Russian power system to Finland, using high-voltage direct current. It consists of four 355 MVA (250 MW) back-to-back converter blocks, the first three of which were completed in the early 1980s and the last in January 2001. Much of the original converter equipment has been refurbished or modernised.

In total, the national grid contains 11,803 kilometres (7,334 mi) of high-voltage lines and 178 substations.
HVDC Lehrte–Misburg was an experimental high-voltage direct current transmission line between Hannover-Misburg and Lehrte-Ahlten substation. It was designed by Erwin Otto Marx and served to assess the reliability of its components in continuous service, namely the converters which were based on arc discharges in air in contrast to other projects which use mercury vapour rectifiers. At this time, PreussenElektra had installed a second cable between their transformer stations near Lehrte and Misburg. This was used for the experiments which initially only ran for a few hours at night time due to the requirements for a steady supply of electrical power, and which were extended to two or three days in 1944. The plant went into service in 1942 and was designed for the transmission of up to 16 MW at a voltage of 80 kV. The experiments were conducted at a voltage of 75 kV, and a power of 6 to 7 MW on average and 12 MW at maximum was transmitted. They ceased after the Misburg transformer station suffered bomb damage on 18 June 1944. The setup was dismantled after World War II.
HVDC Ekibastuz–Centre is an unfinished HVDC transmission line between Ekibastuz in Kazakhstan and Tambov in Russia whose construction was started in 1978. It was planned to have a length of 2,414 kilometres (1,500 mi), which would have made it the longest powerline of the world with a maximum transmission rate of 6,000 MW and a transmission voltage of 750 kV between conductor and ground. For this line the erection of 4,000 pylons, most 41 metres (135 ft) tall, were required. Several hundred kilometres were built, including a Volga crossing on three 124 metres (407 ft) tall towers near Saratov, which were erected between 1989 and 1991. At Ekibastuz construction work at the terminal was started, while it was not the case at Centre substation, Tambov.
The Trans Bay Cable is a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) underwater transmission cable interconnection between San Francisco, California and Pittsburg, California. The 53 mi (85 km) cable under San Francisco Bay and through the Carquinez Strait can transmit 400 megawatts of power at a DC voltage of ±200 kV, enough to provide 40% of San Francisco's peak power needs.

The Hanover freight bypass railway is a freight railway in the German state of Lower Saxony, which relieves Hannover Hauptbahnhof of freight traffic. It separates freight from passenger traffic on several routes and runs through the western and southern outskirts of the city, bypassing the city centre and the main station.
The Villa Nordstern is a former grand residence on the Iltener Straße in Lehrte, Lower Saxony, Germany. It was built for industrial magnate Hermann Manske in 1892. Since 1990 it has stood abandoned, although there have been a variety efforts to restore it as a historic monument or private development.
