The Alento is a river in Italy. It is located in the Abruzzo region of southern Italy. Its source is located in Maiella National Park in the province of Pescara. [1]
Originated in the municipality of Serramonacesca, in the province of Pescara, the river crosses the border into the province of Chieti and flows through the municipalities of Roccamontepiano, Casalincontrada, Bucchianico, Chieti, Ripa Teatina and Francavilla al Mare. Its mouth is on the Adriatic Sea, in the middle of Francavilla.

After crossing the border, the river loops northward and then eastward near Penne. It then flows south and then northeast and flows near Loreto Aprutino and Pianella. The river continues flowing northeast near Cappelle sul Tavo before joining the Fino and together they become the Saline.

Its source is located near Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise and Scanno. The river flows into Lago di Scanno near Scanno and flows out of the lake near Villalago. The portion of the river that enters the lake is known as the Tasso. The Sagittario flows north through the Appennino Abruzzese near Villalago, Bugnara, Sulmona and Pratola Peligna. It enters the Aterno-Pescara near Raiano and Popoli on the border with the province of Pescara.

It comprises a number of coves and reefs below the hills that end at the Adriatic Sea marked by the spread of Trabucco – fishing machines on piles. Many of the towns on the Coast maintain their own characteristics and traditions.
