The Alexandrian Public Library serves the residents of Mount Vernon, Indiana as well as Black, Lynn, Marrs, Point and Robinson townships (approximately 21,000 residents). Founded by Matilda Greathouse Alexander, the library has been in existence since 1895.

The Main Library, built in 1986, is located at 115 West Fifth Street, and boasts over 100,000 items, a dozen public computers, as well as free Wi-Fi. In addition, a Bookmobile operates to serve the area schools and outlying areas of the county. The building was renovated in 2015 to add a new entryway and three study rooms.

A monthly book discussion group for adults, numerous storytimes, a Summer Reading Program, and targeted programming for youth, young adult, and adults is offered free of charge to the public on a regular basis.

The Alexandrian Public Library also has a varied and popular collection of local history resources and family history files in the "Indiana Room" of the Main Library. Microfilmed newspapers, contributed family documents, resources from the Posey County Historical Society and more are available for genealogists and researchers.

Meeting rooms are also available for use by the public at the library, with charges for for-profit groups.

Indiana Free Library is located in the middle of the town on the corner of 9th and Philadelphia Streets in Indiana, Pennsylvania, in the Community Center Building which also houses the Jimmy Stewart Museum and the Downtown Indiana offices. The service area, a population of 32,924 by the 2010 Census, is the Indiana School District which includes Indiana Borough, White Township, and Armstrong Township with Shelocta Borough. It was originally located in a Reading Room started by the New Century Club in 1907 in a building not that far from where it is now. After moving through several locations, was installed in the Community Building in 1934. The Community Building was built in 1912 but served as a YMCA during the 1920s and 1930s. A recent remodeling was completed in 2019 to refresh building systems and update the appearance of the interior and exterior surfaces. On May 16, 2007, it celebrated its 100th year of having a public library in Indiana, PA. The library is an independent state-aided non-profit corporation under Commonwealth Libraries, a state agency regulating the Pennsylvania library system. Library cards are offered to residents of supporting municipalities included in the Indiana School District at the county seat. Other county residents may purchase an annual $25. card and be served from the surrounding municipalities which have opted out of library service. There are 47,407 residents in Indiana County currently unserved by a local library.

Owensboro Health is the health system in Owensboro, Kentucky. It was originally known as "Owensboro Daviess County Hospital" until it merged with the nearby and much smaller Mercy Hospital in 1995. The hospital was renamed "Owensboro Mercy Health System" until 2003 when it changed its name to "Owensboro Medical Health System". The Gadsden County Public Library System is a public library system in rural Northwest Florida that serves the residents of Quincy, Havana, Chattahoochee, Gretna, Midway, and Greensboro.
