An alligator is a crocodilian in the genus Alligator of the family Alligatoridae. The two extant species are the American alligator and the Chinese alligator. Additionally, several extinct species of alligator are known from fossil remains. Alligators first appeared during the Oligocene epoch about 37 million years ago.
The American alligator, sometimes referred to colloquially as a gator or common alligator, is a large crocodilian reptile native to the Southeastern United States. Interstate 595 (I-595), also known as the Port Everglades Expressway and as the unsigned State Road 862 (SR 862), is a 12.860-mile (20.696 km) Interstate highway that connects Interstate 75 and Alligator Alley in the west with Florida's Turnpike, Interstate 95, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, US 1, and SR A1A before terminating at Port Everglades in the east. The interstate route was conceived in 1969, and planned as an interstate starting in 1974. Construction began in 1984, with the freeway opening in stages in the late 1980s, with completion in 1991. The reversible tolled express lanes opened in 2014.

State Road 84 is a highway in the U.S. state of Florida originally extending from the Tamiami Trail in Naples to Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. The road now consists of two noncontiguous pieces––in Collier County as Davis Boulevard and in Broward County as Marina Mile Boulevard and highway frontage roads.
The Big Cypress Indian Reservation is one of the six reservations of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. It is located in southeastern Hendry County and northwestern Broward County, in southern Florida, United States. Its location is on the Atlantic coastal plain. This reservation lies south of Lake Okeechobee and just north of Alligator Alley. It is governed by the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Tribal Council, and is the largest of the five Seminole reservations in the state. Facilities on the reservation include the tribal museum and a major entertainment and rodeo complex.
The Newport Aquarium is an aquarium located in Newport, Kentucky, United States at Newport on the Levee, across the river from Cincinnati. It has 70 exhibits and 14 galleries, including five seamless acrylic tunnels totaling over 200 feet (61 m) in length. The aquarium also showcases thousands of animals from around the world in 1,000,000 US gal (3,800,000 L) of water, including Scooter and Sweet Pea, two of the few shark rays in captivity. It is the first aquarium to have success in breeding shark rays. It also hosts a collection of alligators, including albino alligators and Mighty Mike.

The community is part of the Naples–Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name came from Miles Collier, son of area land owner Barron Collier.
The Florida Gymnasium is a historic building located on the campus of the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville. It opened in 1949 as a 7,000-seat multi-purpose arena and served as the home court of the Florida Gators men's basketball team and other UF indoor sports programs for over thirty years, acquiring the nickname of "Alligator Alley" during that time.
Interstate 75 (I-75) is a part of the Interstate Highway System and runs from the Hialeah–Miami Lakes border, a few miles northwest of Miami, to Sault Ste. Marie in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I-75 begins its national northward journey near Miami, running along the western parts of the Miami metropolitan area before traveling westward across Miami-Naples Alligator Alley, resuming its northward direction in Naples, running along Florida's Gulf Coast, and passing the cities of Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, Venice, and Sarasota. The freeway passes through the Tampa Bay Area before turning inward towards Ocala, Gainesville, and Lake City before leaving the state and entering Georgia. I-75 runs for 471 miles (758 km) in Florida, making it the longest Interstate in the state and also the longest in any state east of the Mississippi River. The Interstate's speed limit is 70 mph (110 km/h) for its entire length in Florida.
The Miccosukee Indian Reservation is the homeland of the Miccosukee tribe of Native Americans. It is divided into three sections in two counties of southern Florida, United States. Their total land area is 128.256 sq mi (332.183 km2). The Miccosukee Reservation have members living on and off the reservation.

Everglades Radio Network was a network of travelers' information stations serving the Alligator Alley segment of Interstate 75 in the Everglades region of Florida. Owned by the Florida Department of Transportation and jointly programmed by the FDOT and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the network was based at Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers. It consisted of two low-power FM radio stations, WFLP-LP 98.7 FM, licensed to the Collier County Rest Area and WFLU-LP 107.9 FM in Miles City. The coverage area of the two transmitters covered most of Alligator Alley within Collier County.
