Alyssa Fleming (born March 8, 1994) is an American women's lacrosse player. Having played with the Stony Brook Seawolves at the collegiate level, [1] she was signed to the Baltimore Ride of the United Women's Lacrosse League. [2]

The Stony Brook Seawolves are the athletic teams of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, United States. The school competes at the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and participates in the America East Conference for all sports except football, in which they participate as an associate member of the Colonial Athletic Association, and women's tennis, which competes as an associate member of the Missouri Valley Conference. The official colors of the Seawolves are red, grey, and blue.

The Baltimore Ride are a United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX) professional women's field lacrosse team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They have played in the UWLX since the 2016 season. In the 2016 season, the four teams in the UWLX played in a barnstorming format, with all four teams playing at a single venue.

Sporting career

High school

Fleming played four years of varsity lacrosse at Shoreham-Wading River High School and was named All-Tourney in 2009, All-Country in 2010, and All-American and All-Country in 2012. [3] She led the team to State Championships in 2009, 2010, and 2012. [4] [5]

College

In college, Fleming was a Synapse Sports All-Rookie in 2013 and named to the All-America East second team. [1] She was selected to the American East all-rookie squad and started all 19 games. In 2014, she was on the first team All-American East, and second team All-Mid Atlantic, starting 21 games and leading the team with 55 ground balls (the third-most in a single-season in school history). [1] In 2015, she was on the first team All-America East. She received an Inside Lacrosse honorable mention preseason All-American and was Inside Lacrosse third-team mid-season All-American. In 2016, she was selected as an IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) third-team All-American and IWLCA Mid-Atlantic all-region first team. She was named America East co-defensive player-of-the-year. [6]

UWLX

After graduating from Stony Brook, Fleming joined the Baltimore Ride during the 2016 UWLX season. [7] She made her debut on May 28, 2016, as the Ride lost to the Long Island Sound by a score of 13–12.

The 2016 United Women's Lacrosse League season, the first in the history of the UWLX, started on May 28, 2016 and ended with the league championship game on July 31, 2016 in which the Long Island Sound defeated the Boston Storm in a 13-8 final.

The Long Island Sound are a United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX) professional women's field lacrosse team based in Long Island, New York. They have played in the UWLX since the 2016 season. In the 2016 season, the four teams in the UWLX played in a barnstorming format, with all four teams playing at a single venue.

It was co-founded in Boston, Massachusetts by Digit Murphy and Aronda Kirby of the Play It Forward Sports Foundation, under the ownership of United Women's Sports LLC in a strategic partnership with STX. Penn State alum and former United States national team player Michele DeJuliis was appointed as the league’s commissioner. DeJuliis left after the 2016 season to found a new women's pro lacrosse league, the current General Manager is Kristan Ash.
