Yalpana Vaipava Malai is a book written by a Tamil poet named Mayil Vaakaanar in 1736. This book contains historical facts of the early Tamil city of Jaffna. The book which may have been written around 1736 during the Governorship of Jan Maccara, the then Dutch Governor of Jaffna. It was translated from Tamil by C. Brito, and was first published in 1879. The work is looked upon as one of great authority among the Tamils of Jaffna.

Keechaka Vadham is an Indian silent film produced, directed, filmed and edited by R. Nataraja Mudaliar. The first film to have been made in South India, it was shot in five weeks at Nataraja Mudaliar's production house, India Film Company. As the members of the cast were Tamils, Keechaka Vadham is considered to be the first Tamil film. No print of it is known to have survived, making it a lost film.
Rangaswamy Nataraja Mudaliar (1885–1972), was an Indian film director. Popularly known as the father of Tamil cinema, he was a pioneer in the production of silent films. Starting his career as an automobile spare parts merchant, he started the "Indian Film Company Limited" in Madras. In 1917, Mudaliar made Keechaka Vadham, South India's first silent film. Upon critical success of the film, he went on to produce films like Draupadhi Vastrapaharanam (1918), Lava Kusa (1919), Rukmini Satyabhama and Mayil Ravana. After the death of his son in a fire accident in 1923, Mudaliar retired from films.
Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka / Malupu is a 2015 Indian Tamil-Telugu bilingual comedy thriller film written and directed by Sathya Prabhas Pinisetty. The film stars his brother Aadhi Pinisetty and Nikki Galrani. Mithun Chakraborty, Richa Pallod and Pasupathy play supporting roles. Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka is based on a real incident happened in Chennai and tells the story of a happy go lucky man and the shocking incident that turns his life upside down and his search for Mumbai based underworld don Mudaliar. Malupu, the Telugu version of the film was released on February 19, 2016. The film was shot in different locations for the Tamil and Telugu versions, which caused a delay in the release of Malupu. The film generally opened to mixed response from critics.
Sabapathy is a 1941 Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed by A. V. Meiyappan and A. T. Krishnaswamy, and produced by Meiyappan. An adaptation of Pammal Sambandha Mudaliar's farce play of the same name, the film stars T. R. Ramachandran, Kali N. Rathnam, C. T. Rajakantham and K. Sarangapani. It focuses on the antics of two dim-witted men named Sabapathy: a wealthy man and his servant. The film was released on 14 December 1941 and became a commercial success.

Jalaja or Natya Mahimai is a 1938 Indian Tamil-language dance film written by Manjeri S. Isvaran, Dr. V. Raghavan and G. K. Seshagiri. The film was directed by R. R. Gautam and G. K. Seshagiri and produced by Sagar Renaissance Theatre. It stars Bhanumathi, Lakshmi, G. K. Seshagiri and K. S. Gopalakrishan in lead roles. The film is marked as India's first dance film. It is also dedicated to Bhanumathi’s cousin, Bharatanatya Art Expert Srimathi Varalakshmi, who died early on in the film’s production. No print of the film is known to survive, making it a lost film.
