Andkhoy may refer to:
Afghan Turkestan, also known as Southern Turkestan, is a region in northern Afghanistan, on the border with the former Soviet republics of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. In the 19th century, there was a province in Afghanistan named Turkestan with Mazari Sharif as provincial capital. The province incorporated the territories of the present-day provinces of Balkh, Kunduz, Jowzjan, Sar-e Pol, and Faryab. In 1890, Qataghan-Badakhshan Province was separated from Turkestan Province. It was later abolished by Emir Abdur Rahman.
Transport in Afghanistan has steadily improved in the last decade. Much of the nation's road network was built during the 1960s but left to ruin during the 1980s and 90s wars. New national highways, roads, and bridges have been rebuilt in the last decade to help increase travel as well as trade with neighboring countries. In 2008, there were about 700,000 vehicles registered in Kabul.
Faryab is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, which is located in the north of the country bordering neighboring Turkmenistan. It has a population of about 1,109,223, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a tribal society. The province encompasses 15 districts and over 1,000 villages. The capital of Faryab province is Maymana. It also borders Jowzjan Province, Sar-e Pol Province, Ghor Province and Badghis Province.
Maymana is the capital city of Faryab Province in northwestern Afghanistan, near the Turkmenistan border. It is approximately 400 km (250 mi) northwest of the country's capital Kabul, and is located on the Maymana River, which is a tributary of the Murghab River. The population of Maymana was 149,040 in 2015, making it one of the largest cities of northwestern Afghanistan.
Ghormach is a district situated in the northwest of Faryab Province of Afghanistan. The district centre is Ghormach.
Qurghan is a district in Faryab Province, Afghanistan. It was created in 2005 from the western part of Andkhoy District. The district center Qurghan is very close to Andkhoy at 317 m altitude.
Khwaja Sabz Posh District is the district where the Faryab Province capital Maymana is located. It is a rural district without its own capital. The Khwaja Sabz Posh district is the closest district to the north of Maymana city. Khoja Sabz Posh is the name of a deceased village elder who was famous for always wearing the color green. There is a shrine dedicated to him on a hilltop just north of the Bazaar. It contains 85 villages. Ethnic diversity includes 80% Uzbek, 10% Pashtun and 10% Tajik.
Qaramqol (Qaramqũl) district is located south of Andkhoy District in the northern part of Faryab Province. with an ethnic composition of 5% Pashtun, 35% Uzbek and 60% Turkman. The district center Qaram Qũl is close to the town of Andkhoy.
Qaisar district is situated in the southwestern part of the Faryab Province of Afghanistan. In 2021, the population was 400,000 with an ethnic composition of 70% Uzbek, 16% Tajik, 10% Pashtun and 4% Turkman. The district center Qeysar, at the edge of the vast desert of Qaisar, has almost the same peculiarities of the Almar bazaar. This bazaar received its name at the end of the nineteenth century.
Shibirghan District (Sheberghan) is situated in the southern part of Jowzjan Province in Afghanistan. It borders Faryab Province to the west, Khwaja du koh District to the north, Aqcha District to the east and Sar-e Pol Province. The population is 188,808 (2019). The center is the provincial capital Sheberghan. There are main roads from the district center towards Herat, Kabul, Andkhoy and Mazari Sharif. Sheberghan airfield is situated between Sheberghan and Aqchah.
Afghanistan has three railway lines in the north of the country. The first is between Mazar-i-Sharif and the border town of Hairatan in Balkh province, which then connects with Uzbek Railways of Uzbekistan. The second links Torghundi in Herat province with Turkmen Railways of Turkmenistan. The third is between Turkmenistan and Aqina in Faryab province of Afghanistan, which extends south to the city of Andkhoy. The country currently lacks a passenger rail service, but a new rail link from Herat to Khaf in Iran for both cargo and passengers was recently completed. Passenger service is also proposed in Hairatan – Mazar-i-Sharif section and Mazar-i-Sharif – Aqina section.

The Afghan Border Police (ABP) was the border force of Afghanistan under the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. It secured the country's 5,529 kilometres (3,436 mi) border with neighboring countries and all its international airports. It also administered immigration services such as checking documents of foreigners entering the country or deporting them. The ABP's anti-narcotic efforts were a prominent concern to the international community during the War in Afghanistan. The ABP and other divisions of the Afghan National Police jointly patrolled a 55 km-wide corridor along the entirety of Afghanistan's border, particularly the long and porous Durand Line border in the southeast with neighboring Pakistan.
The Provincial Reconstruction Team in Meymaneh was an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) command; it existed between 2004 and 2012. It was classified by NATO, as a "Provincial Reconstruction Team". It consisted of soldiers and civilians from Norway, Latvia, Macedonia, Iceland and the United States. It conducts joint operations with Afghan Security Forces in Faryab province. It is led by ISAF and began its work in 2004, when they took over from the British. The camp was moved out of the city due to several attacks and a lack of space, in 2006. It is co-located with the airstrip, north of Meymaneh. Several "FOBs" are located in Ghormach and Qeysar districts, which the PRT share with Afghan soldiers.

Aqina is located in the northern part of Khani Chahar Bagh district, directly adjacent to the border with Turkmenistan. The nearest Afghan town from Aqina is Andkhoy.
The Shirin Tagab River is a river in Afghanistan, and travels 320 kilometres (200 mi) before ending in an inland delta around Andkhoi. The river's watershed has 504 settlements with a population of 605972, and covers the majority of Faryab Province. Downstream, the river is brackish/saltwater. In addition, the river is a source of water-borne diseases.
