Andrea Gill was President of the Senate of Belize from 2008 to 2012. Between 2008 and 2009,she served as president of the Forum of Presiding Officers of National Parliaments of Central America and the Caribbean (FOPREL).
Andrea Nicole Gill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. [1] As part of a manatee research project,Gill was involved between 1997 [2] and 2001 [3] in a manatee tagging project which focused on the Southern Lagoon. [2] She then became a teacher focusing on improving education systems. [4]
She served as President of the Senate of Belize from 14 March 2008 [5] to 3 February 2012 when she was replaced by Marco Pech. [6] In November 2008,she assumed the presidency of the Forum of Presiding Officers of National Parliaments of Central America and the Caribbean (FOPREL), [4] the first time Belize had participated in the regional body. On 12 June 2009,Gill was awarded the Golden Medal of Honour from the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Nicaragua in recognition of her work to promote democracy and integration in the region. [7] On 1 March 2010,Gill passed leadership of FOPREL to President of the National Assembly of Honduras,Congressman Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado. [8]
Belize is a country on the north-eastern coast of Central America. It is bordered by Mexico to the north,the Caribbean Sea to the east,and Guatemala to the west and south. It also shares a water boundary with Honduras to the southeast. Belize is a member of CARICOM - Caribbean Community,and is considered part of the Caribbean region and the historical British West Indies.
Central America is a subregion of North America. Its political boundaries are defined as bordering the United States and the Gulf of Mexico to the north,Colombia to the southeast,the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico to the east,and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest. Due to the presence of several active geologic faults and the Central America Volcanic Arc,there is a high amount of seismic activity in the region,such as volcanic eruptions and earthquakes,which has resulted in death,injury,and property damage.
Belmopan is the capital city of Belize. Its population in 2010 was 16,451. In addition to being the smallest capital city in the continental Americas by population,Belmopan is the third-largest settlement in Belize,behind Belize City and San Ignacio. Founded as a planned community in 1970,Belmopan is one of the newest national capital cities in the world. Since 2000,Belmopan has been one of two settlements in Belize to hold official city status,along with Belize City.
Belize is a parliamentary representative democratic monarchy,whereby the king of Belize serves as head of state and the prime minister is the head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Parliament of Belize.
The Federal Republic of Central America,initially known as the United Provinces of Central America,was a sovereign state in Central America which existed from 1823 to 1839/1841. The Federal Republic of Central America was composed of five states:Costa Rica,El Salvador,Guatemala,Honduras,and Nicaragua,as well as a Federal District from 1835 to 1839. Guatemala City was the federal republic's capital city until 1834 when the seat of the federal government was relocated to San Salvador. The Federal Republic of Central America was bordered to the north by Mexico,to the south by Gran Colombia,and on its eastern coastline by the Mosquito Coast and British Honduras.
The Belize national football team represents Belize in international football and is controlled by the Football Federation of Belize,a member of the Central American Football Union of CONCACAF.
The National Assembly is the bicameral legislature of the nation of Belize. It is divided into the House of Representatives,with 31 members,elected by universal suffrage,and the Senate,with 13 members,appointed by the Governor-General in consultation with the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. The presiding officer of the House is the Speaker,while the Senate is presided over by the President.

The October 2008 Central America floods were caused by a series of low-pressure areas including Tropical Depression Sixteen,a short-lived tropical cyclone in the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season that made landfall in Honduras. Heavy rainfall began in early October 2008 while a tropical wave passed through the region. On October 14,Tropical Depression Sixteen formed just off the northeast coast of Honduras,and at the same time a low-pressure system was on the Pacific coast. Both systems increased rainfall across the region,although the depression dropped heavy rainfall close to its center when it moved ashore on October 15. Although Tropical Depression Sixteen quickly dissipated over land,its remnants persisted for several days. Another low-pressure area interacted with a cold front on October 21,adding to the rainfall in the region.

Relations between Belize and the United States have traditionally been close and cordial. The United States is Belize's principal trading partner and major source of investment funds. It is also home to the largest Belizean community outside Belize,estimated to be 70,000 strong. Because Belize's economic growth and accompanying democratic political stability are important U.S. objectives,Belize benefits from the U.S. Caribbean Basin Initiative. Belize hasn't received a direct visit from an American president,the country's leadership has met with various American presidents during meetings along with the Caribbean Community such as the 1997 summit with Bill Clinton in Barbados.
His Majesty's Government in Belize,also referred to as the Belizean Government is the democratic administrative authority of Belize,a constitutional monarchy under a parliamentary democracy. It was formed in 1981 after gaining sovereignty from the United Kingdom. The constitution is the supreme law of Belize.
The Association football competition at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games were set to start 21 July,although qualification took take place beforehand. All participants had to be born on or after 1 January 1989. On 13 July 2010,the organizing committee for the games (Comaz) announced that the event would not be held because CONCACAF had threatened to sanction countries that participated.

The 2022 UNCAF U-19 Tournament,also known as UNCAF FIFA Forward Men's U-19 Tournament,was the second edition of the UNCAF U-19 Tournament,the biennial international youth football tournament organised by the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) for the men's under-19 national teams of the Central America region. It was held in Belmopan,Belize between 24 and 30 April 2022.
Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency is an international space exploration organization based in Mexico,comprising several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region. It was established in 2021 as part of the Latin American space race. According to its charter,its objective is to coordinate the space cooperation activities of Latin American and Caribbean countries for the peaceful use and exploration of outer space,the Moon and other celestial bodies.
