Film's title was named as "Sher" but due to some reason it was changed. The movie was Super Hit at the box office.

He made his directorial debut with the film Bahu Ki Awaaz in 1985. which was described by the Directorate of Film Festival as a "strong comment on bride burning and dowry", and since then has directed eight motion pictures, which include Karamdaata (1986), Parivaar (1987), Angaar (1992), One 2 Ka 4 (2001) and Ek Chhotisi Love Story (2002). For his special effects in Angaar, he received the National Film Award for Best Special Effects, for "his absolutely convincing miniature work in the film".

Angaar is a 2016 Indo-Bangladeshi romantic action musical film, directed by Wazed Ali Sumon and produced by Abdul Aziz under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia. The film features a cast that includes Om and Jolly in lead roles while Ashish Vidyarthi plays the role of the main antagonist. The first teaser of the film was released on December 15, 2015 and the film was first released on January 15, 2016. The movie is a remake of 2013 Kannada film Appayya.
