Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten, commonly shortened to JP, is a Danish daily broadsheet newspaper. It is based in Viby, a suburb of Århus, Jutland, and with a weekday circulation of approximately 120,000 copies, it is among the largest-selling newspapers in Denmark.
Kurt Westergaard is a Danish cartoonist who created the controversial cartoon of a terrorist, although not the Islamic prophet Muhammad as it is often claimed, wearing a bomb in his turban. This cartoon was the most contentious of the 12 Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons, which met with strong reactions from Muslims worldwide, including Western countries. Since the drawing of the cartoon, Westergaard has received numerous death threats and been a target of assassination attempts. As a result, he is under constant police protection.

He is a critic of the practice of male circumcision, arguing that it should only be a legal procedure for boys above the age of 15, the Danish age of sexual consent.
Louis Jensen is a Danish author who is an innovator in the international literary trends of flash fiction, metafiction, prose poetry, and magical realism. While he has published more than 90 books for both adults and children, he is best known for his children's books, which include picture books, short stories, flash fiction, creative nonfiction and novels. His work is characterized by wordplay and playful experiments in form and structure, which have led critics to draw comparisons to Borges, Calvino, Gogol, and the poetry of the Oulipo movement. His work is also rooted in the fairy tale and folk tale tradition, and is deeply influenced by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.

Anders Lund Madsen is a Danish journalist, comedian, author, radio personality and talkshow host. He is famous for his involvement in "Zirkus Nemo" with Søren Østergaard, "De sorte spejdere" with Anders Breinholt and as host of the talkshow "Det Nye Talkshow – med Anders Lund Madsen". Together with his brother Peter Lund Madsen, he has performed several shows at the Bellevue Theater and in Bremen Theater. Together they have written the text of the song "Avenuen", which was part of one of their shows performed by Trine Dyrholm. They have also participated in the quiz program Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? where they have twice won the main prize of 1 million kroner.
The Weekendavisen Book Award is an annual literary award presented by the Danish newspaper Weekendavisen. The nominees are selected om December by Weekendavisen's corps of literary critics and the final winner is selected by the readers. The ceremony takes place in January the following year.
