Rear Admiral Anthony Morris is a serving South African Navy officer who previously served as Director Naval Acquisition and presently as Chief Director Acquisition Management.
He is a naval officer who served as Director Naval Acquisition at Defence Materiel Division from 1 March 2016. He was promoted to the rank rear admiral and was appointed as Chief Director Acquisition Management on 1 May 2020, having responsibility over Army Acquisition, Air Force Acquisition, Naval Acquisition and Common Weapons Acquisition.

Good Service Medal (Bronze (10 Years)) Hispanic and Latino Admirals in the United States Navy can trace their tradition of naval military service to the Latino sailors, who have served in the Navy in every war and conflict since the American Revolution. Prior to the Civil War, the highest rank reached by a Latino-American in the Navy was commodore. Such was the case of Commodore Uriah Phillips Levy (1792–1862), a Sephardic Jew of Latin American descent and great grandson of Dr. Samuel Nunez, who served in the War of v. During the American Civil War, the government of the United States recognized that the rapid expanding Navy was in need of admirals therefore, Congress proceeded to authorize the appointment of nine officers the rank of rear admiral. On July 16, 1862, Flag Officer David Glasgow Farragut became the first Hispanic-American to be appointed to the rank of rear admiral. Two years later (1864), Farragut became a vice admiral, and in 1866 the Navy's first full admiral. During World War I, Robert Lopez, the first Hispanic graduate of the United States Naval Academy, served with the rank of commodore in command of the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, and during World War II five Hispanics served with the ranks of rear admiral or above in either the European or Pacific Theaters of the war. As of April 2007, twenty-two Hispanic-Americans have reached the rank of admiral, and of this number thirteen were graduates of the USNA.

Anthony Neville Howell is a retired Rear Admiral of the South African Navy. After completing school at Fish Hoek High School in 1964, he joined the Navy in 1965. He trained at the Naval Gymnasium in Saldanha and Naval College. He completed a B. Mil degree at the South African Military Academy in 1968 and then volunteered for submarines. He was Communications Officer on the SAS Maria van Riebeeck, and served in SAS Emily Hobhouse as Detection and Weapons Officer, First Lieutenant. He commanded the submarine SAS Maria van Riebeeck from 1970-1980. From 1981 to 1983. Director Naval Personnel Plans at Naval HQ during 1986-1989. He was the Officer Commanding South African Naval College from 1989 to 1992. In 1993 he was promoted to Commodore and appointed Chief of Naval Staff Plans. In 1998 he was appointed Director Naval Acquisition before being promoted to rear admiral on 1 April 1999 with appointment as Chief Director Maritime Warfare. He retired from the Navy on 31 July 2001
