Theodosius Grigorievich Dobzhansky was an American geneticist and evolutionary biologist. He was a central figure in the field of evolutionary biology for his work in shaping the modern synthesis and also popular for his support and promotion of theistic evolution as a practicing Christian. Born in the Russian Empire, Dobzhansky immigrated to the United States in 1927, aged 27.
Nestor the Chronicler or Nestor the Hagiographer was a monk from the Kievan Rus who is known to have written two saints' lives: the Life of the Venerable Theodosius of the Kiev Caves and the Account about the Life and Martyrdom of the Blessed Passion Bearers Boris and Gleb.
Cyprian was a prelate of Bulgarian origin, who served as the Metropolitan of Kiev, Rus' and Lithuania and the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Rus' in the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. During both periods, he was opposed by rival hierarchs and by the Grand Prince of Moscow. He was known as a bright opinion writer, editor, translator, and book copyist.
