Almas del Silencio is the seventh studio album and fifth made in Spanish album recorded by Puerto Rican-American recording artist Ricky Martin. This is the first Spanish album release since 1998's Vuelve. The album witch released by Sony Discos on May 20, 2003. The album was released in 38 non-Hispanic countries and reached top ten in Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Norway and Finland.
Tomás Torres Carrasquillo, known professionally as Tommy Torres, is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and record producer. Named "#1 Hot Latin Tracks Producer" of 2007 by Billboard magazine and Composer of the Year at 2010 ASCAP's Latin Music Awards, Torres has written and produced songs for many artists including Ricardo Arjona, Jaci Velasquez, Ednita Nazario, Alejandro Sanz, Ricky Martin and Franco De Vita.
"Esperanza" is a song by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias for his third studio album Cosas del Amor (1998). It was co-written by Igleias and Chein García-Alonso with Rafael Pérez-Botija handling its production. A power ballad, it is a confessional song of love and forgiveness. Upon "Esperanza"'s release, one reviewer lauded Iglesias's vocals and the song's arrangements while another found it too similar to his debut single "Si Tú Te Vas". Filmed in Malibu, California, the accompanying music video for "Esperanza" was directed by Emmanuel Lubezki, which won Video of the Year at the 11th Annual Lo Nuestro Awards in 1999. Commercially, it reached number one in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Panama as well as the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Airplay charts in the United States, while becoming top-five hit in Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador.
"Y Hubo Alguien" is a song by American singer Marc Anthony from his third studio album, Contra la Corriente (1997). The song was written by Omar Alfanno, with record production being handled by Ángel "Cucco" Peña. It was released as the first promotional single from the album in 1997. A salsa song which combines elements of R&B, it describes a man who has found love again after his former lover left him. The song was inspired by a fight Alfanno had with his partner and pitched the song to RMM, but was turned down. Anthony offered to record the track after Alfanno presented it to him.
"¡Basta Ya!" is a song by Puerto Rican singer Olga Tañón from her fourth studio album, Nuevos Senderos (1996). The song was written and produced by Marco Antonio Solís. It was released as the lead single from the album in 1996. "A ballad, the song is about unrequited love and marked a musical departure from Tañón's merengue recordings. The song was nominated for Pop Song of the Year at the 1997 Lo Nuestro Awards. Commercially, it topped both the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Airplay charts in the United States. A music video for the song was filmed and features a couple's failing relationship.
"Fruta Fresca" is a vallenato song written and performed by Colombian recording artist Carlos Vives and produced by Emilio Estefan and Juan Vicente Zambrano as the lead single from his studio album El Amor de Mi Tierra (1999). Independiente is the thirteenth Spanish-language studio album by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona, released on 23 September 2011. Recorded in the United States and Mexico, it was produced by Arjona with Dan Warner, Carlos Cabral "Junior", Lee Levin and Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Tommy Torres. The album—the first independent release by Arjona after he was signed by Sony Music in 1993 and Warner Music in 2008—was issued by his own label, Metamorfosis.

Joyas Prestadas: Pop and Joyas Prestadas: Banda are the eleventh and final studio albums by recording artist Jenni Rivera, released on November 21, 2011, by Fonovisa Records. Joyas Prestadas consists of a double album with eleven cover songs, each recorded with two distinct styles of music. The first half being recorded in pop, while the second was recorded in the Regional Mexican subgenre of banda. The album was produced by Enrique Martinez. According to Rivera, the songs she chose to cover were those she was enamored with while working as a cashier in a record store.

The Lo Nuestro Award for Urban Song of the Year is an honor presented annually by American television network Univision at the Lo Nuestro Awards. The accolade was established to recognize the most talented performers of Latin music. The nominees and winners were originally selected by a voting poll conducted among program directors of Spanish-language radio stations in the United States and also based on chart performance on Billboard Latin music charts. However, since 2004, the winners are selected through an online survey. The trophy awarded is shaped in the form of a treble clef.

It was co-produced by Santander and Emilio Estefan and was released as the third single from Me Estoy Enamorando by Sony Music Mexico in 1997. The song is a bolero-pop ballad with ranchera influences and portrays the singer desperately trying to forget his lover. A music video was made for the track which features Fernández hopelessly attempting to not remember his lover only to slowly delve into insanity. It received a nomination for Video of the Year at the 1998 Lo Nuestro Awards.
"Desnuda" is a song written and performed by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona for his seventh studio album, Sin Daños a Terceros (1998). It was released as a single in 1999. It became his first number-one song on both the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Airplay charts in the United States. It spent 12 weeks at number one on the latter chart, tying with his other song "El Problema". The song would later become the theme song for the Mexican telenovela Tres mujeres (1999). It was recognized as one of the best-performing Latin pop songs of 2000 by ASCAP. Mario Tarradell of the Dallas Morning Morning News described it as one of the album's "eclectic, provocative cuts". "Desnuda" was nominated in the category of Pop Song of the Year at the Premio Lo Nuestro 2000, but lost to "Livin' la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin. In 2007, Arjona revealed the origins of the song. The music video was directed by Benny Corral. Although a friend of Arjona, Costa Rican model Vica Andrade declined to appear on the music video.
