Spain competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This nation has competed in all but two Summer Olympic Games since its official debut in 1920. Spain boycotted two editions, the 1936 Summer Olympics in Nazi Germany and the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, as a protest against the Soviet invasion of Hungary. He is a four-time Olympian, a multiple-time Luxembourgian record holder in all freestyle and medley events, and a double European junior champion. Stacchiotti also holds numerous meet records and collects a total of 49 medals from the Games of the Small States of Europe. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Stacchiotti became the youngest athlete to be chosen by the Luxembourg squad, and was given the honor of carrying the nation's flag in the opening ceremony.

Pavel Paulavich Sankovich is a Belarusian swimmer, who specialized in sprint backstroke and butterfly events. He represented his native Belarus in three editions of the Olympic Games, and has won a total of seven bronze medals in major international competition, in both the long and short course European Championships.

The men's épée category B fencing competition at the 2012 Summer Paralympics was held on 5 September 2012 at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London. This class was for athletes who had good trunk control and their fencing arm was not affected by their impairment.
