Aronas

Aronas is an Australian jazz ensemble fronted by New Zealand born pianist Aron Ottignon. They combine jazz with South Pacific drumming. [1] They were nominated for the 2005 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album for their Culture Tunnels album. [2]

The ARIA Music Award for Best Jazz Album is an award presented within the Fine Arts Awards at the annual ARIA Music Awards.

Jackie Orszaczky Hungarian-Australian musician, record producer

Miklós József "Jackie" Orszáczky was a Hungarian-Australian musician, arranger, vocalist and record producer. His musical styles included jazz, blues, R&B, funk and progressive rock; he mainly played bass guitar – from the early 1990s he used a modified piccolo bass – but also various other instruments. In 2006 Orszaczky was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit by the Hungarian government. Also that year Orszaczky was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and died on 3 February 2008, aged 59.

Matt McMahon is an Australian jazz pianist and composer. Winning the 'Wangaratta National Jazz Piano Award' in 1999, and the 'Freedman Jazz Fellowship' in 2005 established his place in Australian jazz. In 2010 his trio supported the Wayne Shorter Quartet at Sydney Opera House. Additionally he has played or recorded with many known jazz artists including Dale Barlow, Greg Osby, Phil Slater, Joseph Tawadros, Katie Noonan, Dave Panichi and Steve Hunter.

Stu Hunter is an Australian musician and record producer. His album The Migration was nominated for 2016 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album.

Babacar Maurice Diop, also known as Bu Baca Diop or Bu Baca, is an Australian-based Senegal-born musician and is the front man of eponymous bands. His music is Afro jazz and world jazz. The album, Stand, was nominated for the 1995 ARIA Award for Best World Music Album.

Jonathan Peter Zwartz is a New Zealand-born Australian-based jazz musician. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2013 he was nominated for Best Jazz Album for his second solo album, The Remembering & Forgetting of the Air. In 2018 Zwartz won that category for Animarum, his third album.

The Engine Room is an Australian jazz trio made up of Roger Frampton, John Pochee and Steve Elphick who were the rhythm section of Ten Part Invention. Their album Full Steam Ahead was nominated for the 1996 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album.

Bobby Gebert is an Australian jazz pianist. The Bobby Gebert Trio was nominated for the 1995 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album with their album The Sculptor.

The World According to James is an Australian jazz band founded by James Greening. Their album Wayback was nominated for the 2003 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album.

Andrew Speight is an Australian born jazz saxophonist based in the USA. His band, the Andrew Speight Quartet, won the 1999 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album with their self titled album. Speight had previously fronted the jazz quintet Now's the Time.

Michelle Nicolle is an Australian jazz singer. She has been nominated for ARIA Awards for Best Jazz Album in 2001, 2004 and in 2009.

Andrew Robson is an Australian jazz saxophonist. He is the frontman of the Andrew Robson Trio which also includes double bassist Steve Elphick and drummer Hamish Stuart. Robson was nominated for the 2003 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album with On. Andrew Robson Trio was nominated for the same award in 2001 with Sunman.
