The Artforum Culture Foundation (ACF) is a private and independent nonprofit organization with headquarters in Thessaloniki, Greece, which promotes contemporary art and cultural exchange. The organisation also has offices in Athens, Cologne, Paris, New York City. It main focus is on art in Greece and the regions of the Greek diaspora.

Contents

The exhibition centre, "Artforum-Vilka near the harbour" was initiated in 1996 with a retrospective of Helmut Newton in his presence.

The Foundation also aims through art to promote peace, social cohesion and the realization of independent culture. With its exhibition program the foundation supports emerging as well as established artists.

Projects

The Foundation initiates supports projects (European Cultural Centre (EEC), The Network Project, "Icons of our time", Gulf Projects, Ostrale, and "Art and Religion").

It also operates as a partner for cultural activities of interest to artists, galleries, collectors, local authorities and companies.

Research on important contemporary artists is one of the aims of the Foundation. In the field of photography, it has given attention to the works of Heinz Günter Mebusch (The Mebusch Estate) and the complete works of Vera Isler-Leiner. The Foundation also supports the work of Joe Brockerhoff, Sheila Elias, Michael (Mike) Jansen, Chryssa, Michalis Manoussakis, Stanislav Marijanovic, Mahmood Mirzaie, Masaaki Noda, Manolis Polymeris, Vangelis Pliaridis, Stefan Runge, Theodoros (Papadimitriou), Panayiotis Tanimanidis, Helmut Tollmann, and Heinz Zolper, and others.

More than one hundred art exhibitions with contemporary works of painting, sculptures, photographs and performance-art have been hosted by the Artforum Cultural Foundation, mostly in co-operation with the Tsatsis-Projects. Most of these are documented in catalogues and brochures.

The Substation Independent contemporary arts centre in Singapore

The Substation is Singapore's first independent contemporary arts centre. It was founded in 1990 by Kuo Pao Kun. The Substation is centrally located in the city's civic district and was the first building under the National Arts Council's "Arts Housing Scheme". It officially opened on 16 September 1990. The Substation is a non-profit organisation and registered Institution of Public Character in Singapore, which relies on financial and in-kind support from the general public, commercial organisations and government ministries to cover the costs of operating and developing arts & educational programmes.

Canadian artist-run centres are galleries and art spaces developed by artists in Canada since the 1960s. Artist-run centre is the common term of use for artist-initiated and managed organizations in Canada. Most centres follow the not-for-profit arts organization model, do not charge admission fees, pay artists for their contributions are non-commercial and de-emphasize the selling of artwork.

Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival

The Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival is the largest of its kind in the world and is considered one of the most important in its field. The film festival hosts hundreds of students, lecturers and guests of honor from the world's leading film industry in Tel Aviv, for a week of screenings and cultural events. Hundreds of films, premieres, cinematic events, workshops, conferences and special projects are held, inviting thousands of visitors to the Tel Aviv Cinematheque halls every day. Athens Biennale

The Moscow International Biennale for Young Art (MIBYA) is a major contemporary visual art exhibition that focuses on the work of artists and curators under the age of 35. It aims to bring together new artistic initiatives from Russia and the world by supporting the creative development of young artists for interested audiences. MIBYA was first held in 2008 in response to rising interest from artists, curators and critics following the festival of young art, "Qui Vive?" sponsored by the National Center for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) and held annually from 2002 to 2006, in collaboration with free workshops at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA). "The project has acquired new status thanks to growing interest from young artists, curators, and critics. Through the combined efforts of the NCCA and MMOMA, the biennial for young art was developed."

iLiana Fokianaki is a Greek curator, writer, theorist, educator and former journalist based in Athens and Rotterdam. She is the founder and director of contemporary art institution State of Concept in Athens, where she curated solo exhibitions of artists such as Laure Prouvost, the research agency Forensic Architecture, Croatian artist Sanja Iveković and the film collective Rojava Film Commune. The exhibition of the Rojava Film Commune Fokianaki curated, titled "Forms of Freedom", was recently featured in Art Forum magazine, and has so far travelled to the following institutions: Galerija Nova, in Zagreb, the exhibition space of e-flux publications in New York and Moderna Galerija / Museum of Modern Art of Slovenia, in Ljubljana.

Lisa Le Feuvre is a curator, writer, editor and public speaker. In 2017 she was appointed the inaugural Executive Director of Holt/Smithson Foundation, an artist endowed foundation that aims to continue the creative and investigative legacies of the artists Nancy Holt and Robert Smithson.

Pejman Foundation
