Arthur Jones was an English professional footballer who played as a left-back. Born in Birmingham, he started his career in non-League football with Heywood before joining Football League Third Division North club Nelson as an amateur in May 1927. He was then awarded a professional contract in October of the same year. Jones made his senior debut for Nelson on 4 February 1928 in the 0–3 defeat away at Durham City. The match did not go well for Jones as he was at fault for two of the opposition goals. He never made another Football League appearance and left Nelson in May 1928.

He left the club at the end of the season and had a spell with Westhoughton Collieries before returning to the Football League with Bolton Wanderers in February 1929.

Patrick McDonagh was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an inside forward. A native of Partick, Glasgow, he started his career in junior football with St Anthony's before moving to England to join Football League Second Division side Barnsley in August 1926. After being restricted to reserve team football for the entirety of the 1926–27 campaign, McDonagh made his professional debut on 24 September 1927, scoring two goals in a 4–2 win at home to Clapton Orient. He made a further eight appearances for the team, before being dropped in early December and despite the sales of fellow forwards Eric Brook and Fred Tilson to Manchester City, McDonagh could not regain his place in the side.

Lewis Bedford was an English professional footballer who played as an outside forward. He started his career with West Bromwich Albion, whom he joined as an amateur in November 1920. In March 1921, Bedford signed professional terms with the club but made only three senior appearances for the side before joining Walsall in 1922. In the first of four spells with Walsall, Bedford played 97 league matches before joining Sheffield Wednesday in August 1925 for a transfer fee of £575. He scored 2 goals in 11 appearances for the Hillsborough outfit as they won the Football League Second Division at the end of the 1925–26 campaign.

Arthur Hepworth was an English professional footballer, who played as a half-back. He was the son of Walter Hepworth, who assisted Barnsley in the Football League during the late 1890s, and the older brother of Ronnie Hepworth, who played over 100 league matches for Bradford. A native of Wombwell, which was then in the West Riding of Yorkshire, he played youth football with Worsbrough Communion and Dodsworth, and represented the Yorkshire schoolboys team. In 1926 he joined Barnsley, but failed to break into the first team during his two years with the club.

James Robert Phizacklea was an English professional footballer who played as a left back. Hailing from Barrow-in-Furness, he began his senior career in the Football League Third Division North with hometown club Barrow in June 1921. Phizacklea scored three goals in 71 League appearances for the Holker Street club before moving to fellow Third Division North outfit Nelson on a free transfer in the summer of 1924. He made his Nelson debut in the first match of the 1924–25 season, a 0–1 defeat away at Southport, and went on to play 21 competitive matches for the club. In January 1925, Phizacklea joined Football League First Division side Preston North End for a fee of £1,000.

Thomas George Hayes was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a centre forward or an inside forward. Born in Port Talbot, he played for the Wales Schoolboys team as a youngster and had spells with Port Talbot Athletic and Bridgend Town. In the summer of 1927, Hayes moved to England to join Barnsley, but he never made a senior appearance for the club. He transferred to Third Division North side Nelson in March 1928, one of several new signings by the club as they strove to avoid finishing bottom of the league.

George Albert Howes was an English professional footballer who played as a right-half. Born in Jarrow, County Durham, he began his footballing career with his hometown club before joining Football League Second Division side Barnsley in the summer of 1928. He spent two seasons with the Yorkshire-based club but did not make a senior appearance for them.

David McClure was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a right-back who had spells in Scotland, Ireland and England. He was born in Slamannan, Stirlingshire, but began his footballing career in Ireland with Glenavon. McClure then returned to Scotland to play Junior league football with Dunipace, before joining Scottish Football League club St Johnstone in 1924. In June 1927, he was signed by Football League Third Division North club Nelson and made his debut for the club on 24 September 1927 in the 2–1 win against Durham City. John McGuire was an English professional footballer who played for four different Football League clubs. Primarily a centre forward, he could also play as an inside forward and was occasionally used at left-half. Born in Darlington, County Durham, he began his career in non-League football with Northern Football League side Darlington Railway Athletic. He later had a spell with Cockfield before joining Football League Third Division South club Charlton Athletic in August 1925. In his first season with the London club he made six league appearances as the team finished 21st in the division and were forced to apply for re-election.

James Alfred Metcalf was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half. He was born in Whitburn, County Durham, and as an adolescent he played local football with Sunderland Schoolboys and Sunderland Royal Rovers. He later played for Southwick, where he won several local amateur trophies. Metcalf was signed by Football League Second Division club South Shields in April 1920 and went on to play seven seasons with the Horsley Hill club, making 185 appearances and scoring twice. In June 1927 he joined Second Division rivals Preston North End on a free transfer. During a single season with the Lancashire club, he played in 16 league matches.

He was born in Heywood, Lancashire, and began his career in non-League football with his hometown club in the early 1920s. In April 1925, Pearson joined Football League Third Division North side Nelson, initially as an amateur, although he was offered a professional contract in September of the same year. He made his debut for Nelson on 3 October 1925 in the 0–1 defeat away at Coventry City and appeared in the following five matches, but then spent the majority of the 1925–26 season in the reserve team. During the 1926–27 campaign, Pearson was more involved in first-team activities and appeared in more than half of Nelson's league fixtures, although he was never able to properly displace club captain Clem Rigg from the left-back berth. He returned to the reserves for the 1927–28 season, making only seven senior appearances. Following a disappointing campaign in which the team finished bottom of the division, Nelson retained only six of their professional squad in the summer of 1928, and Pearson was one of several players to leave the club.

Bernard Radford was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward, and occasionally as an inside forward. Born in West Melton, West Riding of Yorkshire, Radford began his career in local league football with Wath Athletic, Wombwell and Darfield, before signing as a professional with Football League Third Division North side Nelson in December 1927. He made his League debut in the 0–1 defeat to Doncaster Rovers on 17 December, and scored his first three goals for Nelson on 7 January 1928 as the side beat Rochdale 6–3. Radford scored all four goals in the 4–0 victory against Wrexham on 11 February, becoming only the second Nelson player, after Jimmy Hampson, to achieve the feat in a League match.

Ernest George Robinson was an English professional footballer who played as a right back. As a youth, he worked as a coal miner while playing local-league football. He played for several non-League clubs before joining Notts County in 1929. Over the following ten years, Robinson played for five different Football League sides and made a total of 169 appearances. He later worked as a coach in the Netherlands before emigrating to Canada in later life.

William George Ruffell was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward. He was the younger brother of Jimmy Ruffell, who made more than 500 league appearances for West Ham United and won six caps for the England national football team.

Samuel Lee Warhurst was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He started his career with Football League Third Division North club Nelson, where he made 76 league appearances in five seasons. After a short spell in non-League football with Stalybridge Celtic, Warhurst returned to professional football with Bradford City in 1932 and spent five years with the Yorkshire club. He ended his playing career with Southampton, playing his final league match in 1939. He later assisted the club in a non-playing role. In later life, he worked as a hotelier in Southampton.

Edwin Simpson was an English professional footballer who played as a left-half. Born in Chilton, County Durham, he played 17 matches in the Football League for Nelson and also had spells in non-League football.

George Robert Spence was an English professional footballer who played as an outside forward. Born in Burnley, he started his career in local-league football with Colne Town. On 8 October 1927, Spence signed as an amateur with Football League Third Division North side Nelson and made his debut for the club in the 3–3 draw with Chesterfield later the same day alongside fellow new signing, goalkeeper William Bossons. He was awarded a professional contract two weeks later and went on to keep his place in the starting eleven for the following seven matches. Spence scored his first goal in senior football in the 4–2 win against Hartlepools United at Seedhill on 5 November 1927, a match which also featured a hat-trick from centre forward Buchanan Sharp.
