The Men's marathon T42-46 was a marathon event in athletics at the 1996 Summer Paralympics, for amputee athletes. Javier Conde and Joseba Larrinaga finished in gold and silver medal positions respectively for Spain, ensuring that Conde won his first marathon title, also setting a world Record. Of the nine starters, seven reached the finish line. [1]

Aaron Chatman is an Australian right arm amputee Paralympic athlete competing in class T47 men's high jump, long jump and 100 m. He has won silver and bronze medals at the Summer Paralympics.

Marathon events have been held at the Summer Paralympic Games, for both men and women, since the 1984 Summer Paralympics in Stoke Mandeville and New York City. They are held as part of the Paralympic athletics programme.

The Men's marathon T10 was a marathon event in athletics at the 1996 Summer Paralympics, for totally blind athletes. Defending champion Carlo Durante of Italy took part, as did 1992 silver medallist Tofiri Kibuuka of Norway, and 1988 gold medallist Joerund Gaasemyr or Norway, holder of the Paralympic record in 2:45:48. Durante failed to defend his title, and took silver, finishing two and a half minutes behind Japan's Harumi Yanagawa, who had finished sixth four years earlier. The two Norwegians failed to obtain a place on the podium. Of the fourteen starters, eleven reached the finish line.

The Men's marathon T11 was a marathon event in athletics at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, for totally blind athletes. Defending champion and world record holder Carlos Amaral Ferreira of Portugal took part, along with sixteen other athletes, from a total of ten countries. No athlete had ever successfully defended his title in the men's fully blind marathon, and Ferreira failed to become the first; he took silver, finishing half a minute behind Japan's Yuichi Takahashi.

2011 IPC Athletics World Championships

The 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships was held in Christchurch, New Zealand from January 21 to 30, 2011. Athletes with a disability competed, and the Championships was a qualifying event for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Madison de Rozario Australian Paralympic athlete

Madison de Rozario is an Australian Paralympic athlete. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, she won two silver medals. She has won three gold medals at the World Para Athletics Championships.

Greg Smith (Paralympian) Australian Paralympic athlete and wheelchair rugby player

Gregory Stephen "Greg" Smith, OAM is an Australian Paralympic athlete and wheelchair rugby player who won three gold medals in athletics at the 2000 Summer Paralympics, and a gold medal in wheelchair rugby at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, where he was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony.

Michael Roeger Australian Paralympic athlete

Michael Roeger is an Australian T46 athletics competitor. He competed at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Paralympics in athletics in middle distance running events. He has won one gold and three bronze medals at the IPC Athletics World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He won the gold medal in the Men's T46 marathon at 2019 World Para Athletics Championships held as part of the London Marathon in a world record.

Joseba Jon Larrinaga Perea was a paralympic athlete from Spain who competed mainly in category T46 distance running events.

2013 IPC Athletics World Championships

The 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships was the biggest track and field competition for athletes with a disability since the 2012 Summer Paralympics. It was held in Lyon, France and lasted from 20 to 28 July. Around 1,100 athletes competed, from 94 different countries. The event was held in the Stade du Rhône located at the Parc de Parilly in Vénissieux, in Lyon Metropolis.

The Men's marathon T11 was a marathon event in athletics at the 1996 Summer Paralympics, for visually impaired athletes. Waldemar Kikolski and Tomasz Chmurzynski finished in gold and silver medal positions respectively for Poland, ensuring that Kikolski won his first marathon title. Of the eleven starters, ten reached the finish line.

The Men's marathon T52-53 was a marathon event in athletics at the 1996 Summer Paralympics, for wheelchair athletes. Franz Nietlispach and Heinz Frei finished in gold and bronze medal positions respectively for Switzerland, ensuring that Nietlispach won his first marathon title and also setting a Personal Record. Of the sixty-three starters, fifty-six reached the finish line.

The Men's marathon T50 was a marathon event in athletics at the 1996 Summer Paralympics, for wheelchair athletes. Germany's Heinrich Koeberle defended his marathon title and beat out his rival challenger, the American Bart Dodson. Of the seven starters, three reached the finish line, all of whom won medals as a result.

The Men's marathon athletics events for the 2016 Summer Paralympics took place in the streets of Rio de Janeiro on the 18 September. A total of three events were contested over this distance for three different disability classifications.

Athletics at the 2020 Summer Paralympics will be held at the Tokyo National Stadium between 25 August and 6 September.
