The cast includes Beatrice Creen, Asia-Milan Geness, Elisa Gilmour, Brendan Ko, Uri Livne-Bar, Robert Nasmith, Ben Petrie, Paul Thompson and Mel Wright.
The film was named as an official selection of the Critics' Week section at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. [2] Although the festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in France, it was screened in late October as part of Festival Scope's special online presentation of the Critics' Week short films. [3] It had its actual theatrical premiere in September at the 2020 Vancouver International Film Festival, [4] and was later screened at the 2020 New York Film Festival [1] and the 2020 Festival du nouveau cinéma. [5]

The Tribe is a 2014 Ukrainian crime drama film written and directed by Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy. Starring Hryhoriy Fesenko, Yana Novikova and Roza Babiy, the film is set in a boarding school for deaf teenage students, where a novice scholar is drawn into an institutional system of organized crime involving robbery and prostitution. He crosses a dangerous line when he falls for one of the girls to whom he's assigned to pimp. The film is entirely in Ukrainian Sign Language and was the first Ukrainian film to be released in many countries around the world.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in France, festival management announced on 14 April 2020 that the festival could not be held in its "original form", with alternative means of observing the festival being explored.
