Auntie Boss! is a Kenyan comedy-drama television series. It delves into the lives of domestic house helps in the fictional Taifa Estate (Loresho Ridge Estate) and their everyday drama as it revolves around families they work for and activities within the neighbourhood. It reflects the normal Kenyan culture about relationships the house helps have with their bosses. The story also features a lifestyle of the upper middle class in Kenyan society.

Production

The comedy featured an ensemble cast of Nyce Wanjeri, Sandra Dacha, Sospeetah Kiritu, Abdul Karim Athman, Eve D'Souza, Grace Muna and Maqbul Mohammed. Directed by the late Ofmwoko Aswani [4] for the first two seasons before he died of cancer. [5] Likarion Wainaina took over as the director of the series. The directors are Eve D'Souza who is also one of the main cast members and Lucy Mwangi. Moonbeam production released the premiere of the series on YouTube 23 August 2014. [6]

Maqbul Mohammed is a Kenyan actor and radio presenter. He is known for his role (Donavan) in both Auntie Boss and Varshita!, Kenya's first interlinked comedy series both produced by Moonbeam productions. He also featured in Kenya's first ever crime and legal drama Crime and Justice. Maqbul's career as an actor pivoted when he featured in Makutano Junction, which was one of the longest running local TV Series in Kenya from 2005 to 2009. Maqbul's latest film project was crime and justice which was aired on Showmax. He has also acted in other projects like lies that bind.

Mary Kavere, popularly known as Mama Kayai, is a veteran actor in Kenya and one of the thespians acknowledged for pioneering the acting industry in Kenya. She has been in the industry for about four decades. In 2018 she was honored with the Grand Warrior Award which is also the feted induction to the Riverwood Awards Hall of Fame.
