A golf course is the grounds where the game of golf is played. It comprises a series of holes, each consisting of a teeing ground, a fairway, the rough and other hazards, and a green with a flagstick ("pin") and hole ("cup"). A standard round of golf consists of 18 holes. Most courses contain 18 holes; some share fairways or greens, and a subset has nine holes, played twice per round. Par-3 courses consist of nine or 18 holes all of which have a par of three strokes.
The Yale Golf Course, also known as The Course at Yale, is a golf course in New Haven, Connecticut owned at operated by Yale University. It is a fine example of early American golf course design, with large, deeply bunkered greens and narrow rolling fairways challenging the golfer. In 1988, Golf Magazine ranked Yale as the 71st most difficult course in the world. The 2013 Golfweek's Best Classic Courses list ranked Yale at #35 on the list. In 2011, Golf Magazine name Yale Golf Course #71 on its Top 100 Courses in the United States. In particular, the 432-yard (395 m) par-4 fourth hole and the 238-yard (218 m) par-3 ninth hole have been ranked among the 100 most difficult holes. In 2010, Golfweek named it the best campus course in the United States.
The Sahalee Country Club is a private golf course and country club in the northwest United States, located in Sammamish, Washington, a suburb east of Seattle. In the Chinookan language, Sahalee means "high heavenly ground." The 27-hole course is located on a heavily forested plateau immediately east of Lake Sammamish.

Medinah Country Club is a private country club in Medinah, Illinois, with nearly 600 members and 640 acres (260 ha) containing three golf courses, Lake Kadijah, swimming facilities, a golf learning center, golf shop, gun club, racket center and a Byzantine-style, mosque-evoking clubhouse with Oriental, Louis XIV and Italian architectural aspects. Medinah is widely known for its Course 3, now at 7,657 yards (7,002 m), which has hosted five major championships: three U.S. Opens and two PGA Championships, as well as the Ryder Cup in 2012.
Rich Harvest Farms is a private golf course and country club near Sugar Grove, Illinois, about 50 miles (80 km) west of downtown Chicago. Built in 1989 and expanded in 1999, the 18-hole championship golf course is on an expansive 1,800 acres (7.3 km2).
The Ridgewood Country Club (RCC) is a country club located in Paramus, New Jersey, a suburb northwest of New York City in Bergen County. It was founded in 1890 in neighboring Ho-Ho-Kus, but has been at its current location since 1926. Its facilities were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
Blessings Golf Club is a private, 18-hole golf course located along Clear Creek in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Its creation was funded by Tyson Foods Chairman John H. Tyson. Blessings was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.. and opened in June 2004. From the back tees, its rating is 79.1 and its slope is 153, making it one of the toughest golf courses in the U.S. Its routing is a true "out-in" design, in that the 9th hole does not end at the clubhouse. Blessings features two par-5 holes on the "out" nine and two par-3 holes on the "in" nine, for a par of 37-35=72. Its topography is characterized by hilly terrain creating numerous sidehill lies, dramatic elevation changes, forced carries over ravines and valleys, and large, undulating greens, with Clear Creek in play on several holes.
The Susquehanna Valley Country Club (SVCC) is a private club offering an 18-hole golf course, pro shop, swimming pools, and clubhouse facilities to its members. Located in Monroe Township, Snyder County, near Hummels Wharf, Pennsylvania, the club is affiliated with the PGA and the USGA. The boroughs of Selinsgrove and Shamokin Dam also lie nearby.

The Blackwell Grange Golf Club is a golf club situated in the Blackwell area of Darlington, County Durham, in the North East of England. It shares its name with the nearby Blackwell Grange Hotel, since many of the course holes lie square to the hotel. The club also includes a large clubhouse and a small golf shop. The course has a neighbouring course called Stressholme Golf Club.
Glenwood Golf Course is a par 35, nine-hole golf course in Glenwood, Iowa. Thomas Davis designed the course with bent grass greens and bluegrass fairways. From the front tees it is 2564 yards, 33.5 rating, and 120 slope, and from the back tees it is 2776 yards, 34.5 rating, and 123 slope, as provided by the USGA.
Lester Park Golf Course is one of two public golf courses located in the port city of Duluth, Minnesota. The original eighteen-hole golf course was made up the north shore of Duluth, near the Lester Park River. The golf course was established in 1934. The other course, Enger Park, is located near the Duluth landmark, Enger Tower, and was established earlier than Lester in the 1920s. Lester Park is well known around Minnesota for its spectacular beauty and rich history as a golf course because a unique view of Lake Superior is available on 20 of the 27 golf holes. The original 18 holes have been redone four times since their initial design. In 1997, Paul Schintz, a former club pro from St. Paul, took over Lester Park as PGA Golf Professional. In 2003, Schintz became the Director of Golf, overseeing both Lester Park and Enger Park clubhouse operations. The golf courses were split to a 2 golf pro / 2 contract setup in 2005 with the addition of Steve Anderson to Enger Park Golf Course, with Schintz remaining at Lester Park. In 2007, the Duluth city council voted to accept a contract with Professional Golf Management, Inc. The Management company consisted of partners Schintz, as PGA Golf Professional and Jud Crist, Golf Course Superintendent. The management company now operates both facilities for the City of Duluth, overseeing clubhouse and maintenance operations. Management Inc. Lester Park's front and back nines are a full par 72 golf course and has a yardage of 6,828 yards from the hardest tees.
The Grover Cleveland Golf Course is a historic golf course located in Buffalo, New York that hosted the 1912 U.S. Open that was founded as The Country Club of Buffalo. It is one of two courses owned by Erie County.
The Hyannisport Club is a private club with an 18 hole golf course, located at 2 Irving Avenue in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. The club was founded in 1897 and the golf course was finalized in 1903. The course is an original Donald Ross design which plays 6,257 yards from the blue tee markers. While the course is short in terms of yardage, it is often called "the toughest 6200 yards in golf" because of the famous Hyannisport wind which usually blows directly off of Nantucket Sound. The club boasts some of the most scenic views on Cape Cod and is known for having water visible on every hole although coincidentally, there are no water hazards on the course. The course is located adjacent to the Kennedy Compound and the Kennedy family have long been members of the club.

The Whippoorwill Club is a private country club facility near Armonk, New York. In 2010 GOLFWEEK magazine ranked the Whippoorwill golf course as the 73rd best classic course in the United States. The club is not just a golf course and there are a few members who do not golf. For these members there is a swimming pool, tennis courts and paddle ball courts, as well as the traditional club house where lunch and dinner is served.
The Detroit Golf Club is a private golf club located in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan in the middle of a neighborhood area on north side of the city near the University of Detroit Mercy and Palmer Woods Historic District. Bert Way designed the original 6-hole course, then it gradually improved to 9 holes, and finally Donald Ross built the current 36-hole course. The club grounds crew maintains two courses. The North and the South Course. The head pro is Jon Gates. Detroit Golf Club will host the Rocket Mortgage Classic, a new annual PGA Tour event, starting in 2019.
Sycamore Hills Golf Course is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States. Sycamore Hills is a private 18-hole golf course that was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and constructed in 1987 on the former estate of a prominent Fort Wayne-area family.
