Avetec (Advanced Virtual Engine Test Cell, Inc.) is a non-profit research organization located in Springfield, Ohio, United States. It conducts simulation research to try to reduce the cost and time it takes to design and test new jet turbine engines for commercial and military purposes.

Avetec works with students from elementary school age through post-graduate school. The education programs they offer focus on the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Location

In October 2006, Avetec was in the headquarters building at Springfield’s NextEdge Applied Research and Technology Park.

The new facility, which was completed in October 2008 and designed by Champlin Architecture, is approximately 37,000 square feet (3,400 m2). It includes Avetec’s headquarters, computer modeling and simulation environment, the Center for Condition-Based Management and conference space. The design and construction of the building were funded by a $9.9 million grant from the United States Department of Energy, which was secured by U.S. Congressman Dave Hobson.
