He later went on to become the Director of Institute of Chemical Technology, the first chemical engineering professor to do so from ICT.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are an autonomous public technical and research university located in India. They are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961, which has declared them as institutions of national importance and lays down their powers, duties, and framework for governance. The Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 lists twenty-three institutes. Each IIT is autonomous, linked to the others through a common council, which oversees their administration. The Minister of Human Resource Development is the ex officio Chairperson of the IIT Council. As of 2018, the total number of seats for undergraduate programs in all IITs is 11,279. The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is a joint entrance exam for post-graduate studies in the field of technological design held annually jointly at all IITs and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The examination is hosted by the Industrial Design Centre, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay on behalf of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is a descriptive test covering a student's logical, creative, observation and drawing skills, tested in particular for admission to various design courses in the fields of product design, industrial design, visual communication, animation graphics, vehicle design and mobility.
Dr. Chetput Venkatasubban Seshadri was a distinguished Indian chemical engineer. He has received his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He was then at Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Research Associate. He started his independent academic career as an Assistant Professor of IIT Kanpur in 1965. Later he became a Professor and finally the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department of IITK. He also served as the Dean of Students Affairs at IITK.

It was established in 1933 and was granted deemed university status in 2008, making it the only state-funded deemed university in India. He is also the recipient of multiple prizes including the Swarnajayanti Fellowship Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize Infosys Prize, Techno-Mentor award from the Indian Semiconductor Association in 2009. and the IBM faculty award in 2007. He is a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), National Academy of Sciences (NASI) and the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad is an autonomous premier engineering and technology institute in Dharwad,Karnataka, India. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus, previously of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in Belur village, on the outskirts of Dharwad city. It was formally inaugurated on 28 August 2016. For the academic year 2016-2017, the institute offered B.Tech courses in three branches, viz. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Engineering Sciences in 1997.

He is known for his studies on metastable soft matter and is an elected fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. In 2015, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded Joshi the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology for his contributions to Engineering Sciences.
Pramod P. Wangikar is an Indian chemical engineer and a professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Known for his studies in the field of bioenergy, Wangikar is a recipient of the Sartorius India Chemcon Distinguished Speaker Award of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences in 2006.
