Spiderbait are an Australian alternative rock band formed in Finley, a small town in rural New South Wales, in 1991 by bass guitarist Janet English, singer-drummer Mark Maher, and guitarist Damian Whitty. In 2004 the group's cover version of the 1930s Lead Belly song "Black Betty" reached number one on the ARIA Singles Chart. They have five top 20 albums: The Unfinished Spanish Galleon of Finley Lake (1995), Ivy and the Big Apples (1996), Grand Slam (1999), Tonight Alright (2004), and Greatest Hits (2005). The group have won two ARIA Music Awards with the first in 1997 as 'Best Alternative Release' for Ivy and the Big Apples and the second in 2000 as 'Best Cover Art' for their single "Glokenpop". Since late 2004, the band has been on hiatus to concentrate on solo projects and their personal lives—although periodically returning for occasional gigs. In November 2013 the band released their first studio album in nine years, Spiderbait.

Tonight Alright is the sixth studio album by Australian rock band Spiderbait, recorded in Weed, California by producer, Sylvia Massy, which was released on 17 August 2004. It peaked at No. 14 on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified platinum in 2005. It includes the number-one Australian single, a cover version of "Black Betty", and the top 30 single, "Fucken Awesome". "Live in a Box" was used in the game Gran Turismo 4, and the cover of "Black Betty" was featured in EA's game Need for Speed: Underground 2.
The Wrights were a one-off Australian rock music "supergroup". They consisted of Nic Cester, Bernard Fanning, Phil Jamieson, Kram, Chris Cheney, Davey Lane and Pat Bourke. They are named after Australian music legend and former Easybeats frontman Stevie Wright, the original performer of the song-trilogy "Evie" which was the group's feature song.
"Black Betty" is a 20th-century African-American work song often credited to Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter as the author, though the earliest recordings are not by him. Some sources claim it is one of Lead Belly's many adaptations of earlier folk material; in this case an 18th-century marching cadence about a flintlock musket. There are numerous recorded versions, including a cappella, folk, and rock arrangements. The best known modern recordings are rock versions by Ram Jam, Sir Tom Jones, and Spiderbait, all of which were hits.
The Flight of Wally Funk is the fifth studio album by Australian rock band Spiderbait. Named after female aviator Wally Funk, the album features the singles "Four on the Floor", "Outta My Head", and "Arse Huggin' Pants". It debuted on the Australian charts at number 35 and sold 30,000 copies.

It became a double platinum-selling record that reached the top 10 of the albums chart in Australia and won the 1997 ARIA Award for Best Alternative Release. It features the single "Buy Me a Pony", which reached number one on the Triple J Hottest 100, 1996. The second single "Calypso" achieved number 13 on the Australian singles chart and was notably featured in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, despite not being featured on the soundtrack.

Kram has appeared at the 2004 benefit concert for the South-East Asian tsunami, WaveAid, as a member of supergroup The Wrights who performed Stevie Wright's 3 part classic, "Evie".
Greatest Hits is a greatest hits album by Australian rock band Spiderbait. The band decided to put out the compilation after discovering newer fans had not been aware of Spiderbait before "Black Betty". "We'd talk to these excited kids who didn't know our previous albums," recalls Kram. "It was like Tonight Alright was our debut album in some ways".
Phillip Jeffrey McKellar is an Australian record producer and audio engineer. At the ARIA Music Awards McKellar has received nine nominations in the categories of either Producer of the Year or Engineer of the Year. The 11th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards were held on 22 September 1997 at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney. The event was hosted by Australian actor–comedian Paul McDermott, with presenters Elle McFeast, Kylie Minogue, Ben Folds, Colin Buchanan and The Presidents of the United States of America. Savage Garden dominated this year, receiving a record ten awards including "Album of the Year" for Savage Garden, "Single of the Year" for "Truly Madly Deeply" and "Best Group", amongst other awards.
"My Girl" was the third single by iconic Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus and was released on Big Time Records and distributed by EMI in October, 1983; it peaked at #35 on the Australian charts. It was written by Dave Faulkner and was also on their first album Stoneage Romeos, which was produced by Alan Thorne. The single was also subsequently released in the United Kingdom in 1985 by Demon Records with a different cover sleeve and a different B-side, "Leilani".
