The team was owned by Russian Oleg Tinkov and, from 1999 until March 2015, was managed by former Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis. The team was sponsored by the Russian Tinkoff Bank, a credit systems company.

BankGiro Miljonairs is a Dutch game show based on the original British format of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. The show is hosted by Robert ten Brink. In 2011 the show has been hosted by Jeroen van der Boom. The main goal of the game is to win €1 Million by answering 15 multiple-choice questions correctly. It has been shown from 6 February 1999. From 6 February 1999 to February 2006, it was shown on SBS 6, and from 4 March 2006 to 24 May 2008, it was shown on RTL 4. In 2011 it was once again broadcast by SBS 6.
Thierry Hupond is a French former road bicycle racer, who competed professionally between 2008 and 2017 for the Team Giant–Alpecin and Delko–Marseille Provence KTM teams.
Panasonic was a Dutch professional cycling team, sponsored by the Matusishita Corporation, formed in 1984 by team manager Peter Post, when the TI–Raleigh main sponsors, withdrew sponsorship. Vereniging De Hollandsche Molen is a Dutch organization founded in 1923 to preserve windmills in the Netherlands, to document them, and to restore them. Financial support comes from members and from grants by organizations such as the BankGiro Loterij. Their website provides access to a database which documents some 1400 mills in the Netherlands; "Het Nederlands Molenbestand" is authoritative on the topic. The organization is often given credit for organizing a powerful and effective lobby aimed at procuring money from Dutch government institutions to fund restoration projects.
SpiderTech powered by C10 was a UCI Professional Continental cycling team based in Canada that participated in UCI Continental Circuits races. The team was founded in 2007 by Cycle Sport Management. The team obtained a UCI Continental licence for its first season (2008) under the name of "Team R.A.C.E. Pro" (TRP), "Team Planet Energy" (TPE) in 2009 and SpiderTech powered by Planet Energy (CSM) in 2010. In December 2010 the team was granted a UCI Pro Continental licence for the 2011 and 2012 seasons under the name of SpiderTech powered by C10 (SPI). In October 2012, the team announced that it would take a pause in 2013, since its title sponsor withdrew its sponsorship at the last minute leaving the team without choice to suspend its activities.
Robert Thomas Wagner is a German former professional cyclist, who competed professionally between 2006 and 2019 for the Team Milram, Team Wiesenhof-Felt, Skil–Shimano, RadioShack–Nissan, LottoNL–Jumbo and Arkéa–Samsic teams. He won the German National Road Race Championships in 2011, and was named in the start list for the 2016 Tour de France.

The team's first season was the 2015 cycling season, during which the team was invited to participate in UCI World Tour races including the 2015 Eneco Tour and the 2015 Tour of Flanders, as well as various other spring classics races. The team only hired Dutch cyclists, the most prominent of whom was Johnny Hoogerland. Roompot's debut race was the 2015 Vuelta a Mallorca stage race. The team's first win came in August 2015 in the Tour du Limousin, where Maurits Lammertink won a bunch sprint.
