The Victoria Bridge is a vehicular and pedestrian bridge over the Brisbane River. The current bridge, opened in 1969, is the third permanent crossing erected at this location. Since 24 January 2021, the bridge was closed to general traffic and carried buses, pedestrians and cyclists only.
Ipswich is an urban region in South East Queensland, Australia. Situated on the Bremer River, it is approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) west of the Brisbane central business district. Australian rules football in Queensland was the first official football code played in 1866. The Colony of Queensland was the second after Victoria to adopt Australian rules football and it became established across the colony as the most popular code however it soon fell into the shadow of British football variants for more than a century. Queensland was awarded the first new club license in the national competition with the Brisbane Bears in 1986, however the Gold Coast based Bears had a negative effect on the growth of the code until the 1993 redevelopment of the Brisbane Cricket Ground (Gabba) which resulted in enormous growth in the code's popularity, and a tripling of average AFL attendances by 1996.
Ipswich Knights Football Club is an Australian soccer club from Ipswich, Queensland. The Ipswich Knights were formed in 1998 and was an amalgamation of two Ipswich clubs, the Bundamba-based "Coalstars" and the Ebbw Vale-based "St Helens United". Ipswich Knights currently play in the Football Queensland Premier League.
