Barbie Bones was a rock band from Bergen, Norway that existed in the period 1987 to 1993. The band started under the name Monalisa Overdrive, and released two albums before it was dissolved. Under their first name, they released the EP Shake Me Hip in 1988. They then changed their name to Barbie Bones released their first album Brake For Nobody på EMI Music in 1990. The album was released worldwide, og bandet played concerts around in Europe and US. The second album, Death in the Rockinghorse Factory, was released in 1992 and it was awarded Spellemannprisen 1992 in the rock category. Despite good reviews, none of the albums achieved the big sales figures. This combined with problems with the follow-up from the record company led to the band being dissolved in 1993. The band has since had some reunion concerts, including in connection with a jubilee concert for the venue Garage in Bergen (2000) and at the 2006 Nattjazz.
Edge of Sanity was a Swedish death metal band that, alongside Opeth, is commonly regarded as being the first to fuse extreme metal styles like death and black metal with progressive rock. The group was founded by Dan Swanö in 1989 and ended in 2003.

The Hummingbirds were an Australian indie pop and jangle pop band from Sydney, who formed in 1986 from Bug Eyed Monsters. They were one of the most highly regarded outfits to emerge from Sydney's inner-city scene during the late 1980s and were an early signing to the rooArt label. The Hummingbirds' single, "Blush", peaked at No.19 on the ARIA singles charts in 1989. They left rooArt in 1992, and disbanded in 1993.

Soul of a New Machine is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Fear Factory, released on August 25, 1992 by Roadrunner Records. Although this record was Fear Factory's first studio album to be released, it was actually their second album to be recorded, after Concrete, which was recorded in 1991 but not released until 11 years later. The album was remastered and re-released on October 5, 2004 in a digipak, packaged together with the remastered Fear Is the Mindkiller EP.

Audrey Horne are a hard rock band from Bergen, Norway. The band took its name from Sherilyn Fenn's character in the cult TV series Twin Peaks. Although some of the band's members play or have previously played in black metal bands like Enslaved and Gorgoroth, Audrey Horne's music is far removed from the black metal genre, and can be described as heavy and melodic classic rock, similar to bands like Van Halen, Kiss, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Faith No More and Alice In Chains.

Candy Harlots were an Australian band from Sydney, active between 1987 and 1995. They also released material as Helter Skelter and The Harlots. According to rock music historian Ian McFarlane they were, "an unashamedly macho, decadent lot, with a black leathers 'n' chains and gutter-rock image played out over an entertaining brand of hard-edged rock 'n' roll." They enjoyed Top 20 chart success with their March 1992 EP Foreplay on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Singles Chart and obtained a Top 40 chart position with their sole full-length album Five Wicked Ways in May 1992.

Bad to the Bone is the fifth studio album by American blues-rock band George Thorogood and the Destroyers. It was released in 1982 by the label EMI America Records and contains their best known song, "Bad to the Bone". The album also features Rolling Stones side-man Ian Stewart on keyboards. A special edition of the album was released in 2007 to mark the 25th anniversary of the album's original release.
Seventh Angel are an English Christian metal band that formed in 1987 in Halesowen, West Midlands, England. The band was known for its combination of doom metal and thrash metal. According to Cross Rhythms magazine, they were considered to be thrash metal pioneers. The band initially released two albums, The Torment (1990) and Lament for the Weary (1992), before disbanding; these records achieved mainstream distribution through the Music for Nations label, making Seventh Angel label mates with such groups as Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth. Although Seventh Angel disbanded in 1993, "for a long time [they were considered to be] the best metal act in the UK", claims Cross Rhythms. The Daily Telegraph called Seventh Angel "one of the leading Christian thrash metal bands in Great Britain."

Carnival Art was an American alternative rock band. Formed in Los Angeles in 1989, the band in the beginning consisted of Michael Petak, Shane Paul Rhody, Ed Dobrydnio, and Keith Fallis. They released their debut album, titled Like Nobody's Business, exclusively on vinyl through their own record label Spineless Voodoo Records the same year. After this album, Rhody exited the band, with Dobrydnio replacing him on guitar and Brian Bell joining the band to assume bass duties.
