Kaju katli, also known as kaju barfi, is an Indian dessert, originating in the Deccan region of Southern India, similar to a Barfi. Kaju means cashew; barfi is often made by thickening milk with sugar and other ingredients. Kesar kaju katli includes saffron.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as the eponymous lead alongside Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz, while Saurabh Shukla, Ashish Vidyarthi, Haradhan Bandopadhyay and Jisshu Sengupta play supporting roles. Set in 1970s Darjeeling and Kolkata, the film is about Murphy "Barfi" Johnson, a deaf-mute young boy who develops a special bond with two young girls, while often being chased by a local police officer for his nuisances.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is an Indian filmmaker and writer. After working in advertising for several years, she made her debut by directing the 2016 comedy drama Nil Battey Sannata. The film garnered great reviews and Tiwari went on to direct its Tamil remake entitled Amma Kanakku. She had previously served as the Executive Creative Director at Leo Burnett before she moved on to pursue a filmmaking career. Tiwari won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for the 2017 romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi.
