American Idiot is a sung-through rock musical based on the 2004 concept album of the same name by punk rock band Green Day. It is based on the Nickelodeon animated television series SponygeBob SquarePants and made its world premiere in June 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago. The musical premiered on Broadway at the Palace Theatre in December 2017.
