Kay Yow basketball coach

Sandra Kay Yow was an American basketball coach. She was the head coach of the NC State Wolfpack women's basketball team from 1975 to 2009. A member of the Naismith Hall of Fame, she had more than 700 career wins. She also coached the U.S. women's basketball team to an Olympic gold medal in 1988 despite having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. In April 2010, CollegeInsider.com created a new award called the Kay Yow National Coach of the Year Award in her honor. It will be presented annually to the women's college basketball head coach who displays great personal character on and off the court.

Debbie Ryan is a former women's basketball coach who coached at the University of Virginia. Ryan also coached the American women's basketball team at the 2003 Pan American Games. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2000 but is currently in remission. She was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. Ryan was also inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

The FIBA Africa Women's Championship is the women's basketball continental championship of Africa, played biennially under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Basketball, the basketball sport governing body, and the African zone thereof. The tournament also serves to qualify teams for participation in the quadrennial FIBA World Championship for Women and the Olympic basketball tournament.

Kevin Cook American basketball coach

Kevin Lee Cook is an American basketball coach, and former collegiate athlete, who is now the women's basketball head coach at Winthrop University, although currently under suspension. He also serves as head coach/technical advisor of the Nigerian women's basketball U-19 National team. He served as the Nigerian National team coach from 2006 to 2008. Cook, was also an assistant coach for the WNBA Houston Comets from 1997 to 2007.

C.D. Primeiro de Agosto (basketball) basketball club in Angola

Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto is an Angolan multisports club based in Luanda. The club is attached to the Angolan Armed Forces which is its main sponsor. The club's men's and women's basketball teams compete at the local level at the Luanda Provincial Basketball Championship and at the Men's, and Women's domestic leagues as well as at continental level at the annual Africa Basketball League competitions.

Grupo Desportivo Interclube is an Angolan multisports club based in Luanda. The club's basketball teams compete at the local level, at the Luanda Provincial Basketball Championships and at the Men's and Women's leagues as well as at continental level, at the annual African Basketball Club Champions League.

The FIBA Africa Under-18 Championship for Women is an under-18 basketball championship in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Africa zone. The event started in 1996 and is held bi-annually. The winners compete in the FIBA Under-19 World Championship for Women.

The 1983 FIBA Africa Championship for Women was the 8th FIBA Africa Championship for Women, played under the rules of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the FIBA Africa thereof. The 1979 FIBA Africa Championship for Women was the 6th FIBA Africa Championship for Women, played under the rules of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the FIBA Africa thereof. The tournament was hosted by Somalia from December 31 1978 to January 2, 1979.

The 2007 edition of the Men's Basketball Tournament of the African Games was the 9th, organized by FIBA Africa and played under the auspices of FIBA, the basketball sport governing body. The tournament was held from 12 to 22 July 2007 in Algiers, Algeria, contested by 11 national teams and won by Angola, who defeated Egypt 56–50 in the final to win their third title.

The 2007 edition of the Women's Basketball Tournament of the African Games was the 9th, organized by FIBA Africa and played under the auspices of FIBA, the basketball sport governing body. The tournament was held from 12 to 22 July 2007 in Algiers, Algeria, contested by 11 national teams and won by Senegal, who defeated Nigeria 60–46 in the final to win their sixth title.

The Basketball tournament at the 2003 All-Africa Games was held in Abuja, Nigeria from October 5 to 10. Angola won the men's tournament and ended the round robin tournament with a 3-0 unbeaten record. Nigeria won the women's tournament.

The Basketball tournament at the 1999 All-Africa Games was held in Johannesburg, South Africa from September 11 to 18, 1999. The winners were Egypt won the men's tournament and Senegal won the women's tournament, both ended the round robin tournament with a 5-0 unbeaten record.
