Beards Creek is an unincorporated community in Long County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. [1]

History

A post office called Beard's Creek was established in 1853, and remained in operation until 1915. [2] The community takes its name from nearby Beards Creek. [3]

All of the communities are located either upon or just east of the dunes on the shore of Lake Michigan. Most of the communities lie west of Interstate 94, although the CDP includes a small area east of the freeway up to Sawyer, Michigan. The township is a popular resort destination.

Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church is located at 60 Beards Creek Church Road,, Glennville, Georgia in Tattnall County. The church was originally constituted on December 29, 1804 under the name of Beards Creek Church. The Georgia Historical Commission recognized Beards Creek Church as a historical site in 1957. The historical marker states "Beards Creek Church was orderly constituted on December 29, 1804, by the Rev. John Gooldwire, the Rev. John Standford, the Rev. Isham Peacock, and the Rev. David Hennesy, all orderly Baptist ministers."
