Benjamin B. Lee, popularly known as Ben Lee, served from 1998 as managing director of the City & County of Honolulu under Mayor of Honolulu Jeremy Harris. During leaves of absence by Mayor Harris, Lee had assumed the role of acting mayor of Honolulu several times during his tenure. In 2002, he was prepared to become mayor of Honolulu pending Mayor Harris' resignation to run for Governor of Hawai'i. Mayor Harris abruptly dropped out of the race and Lee continued on as managing director.

Lee Patrick Brown is an American politician, criminologist and businessman; in 1997 he was the first African-American to be elected mayor of Houston, Texas. He was re-elected twice to serve the maximum of three terms from 1998 to 2004.
Eileen Anderson was an American politician who served as Mayor of Honolulu, Hawaii from 1981 to 1985. She was the first woman to hold the office. A Democrat, Anderson served in various positions in the city and county and the state. She was the first Hawaii State Director of Budget and Finance.
Jeremy Harris is an American politician who served as Mayor of Honolulu, Hawaii from 1994 to 2004. A biologist by training, Harris started his political career as a delegate to the 1978 Hawaiʻi State Constitutional Convention. While Harris served as chief executive of the City & County of Honolulu, the city was named "America's Greatest City" by the official American governance journal, Governing Magazine. Harris is the founder of the China-U.S. Conference of Mayors and Business Leaders and the Japan-American Conference of Mayors and Chamber of Commerce Presidents. He is married to Ramona Sachiko Akui Harris and lives in Kalihi Valley on the island of O'ahu.
The Mayor of Honolulu is the chief executive officer of the City and County of Honolulu. An office established in 1900 and modified in 1907, the mayor of Honolulu is elected by universal suffrage of residents of Honolulu to no more than two four-year terms. The City and County of Honolulu's elected officials include the Mayor, the Prosecuting Attorney, and Councilmembers representing nine districts.

TheBus is the public bus transportation service on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii, in the United States. In 2021, the TheBus had a ridership of 33,034,800, or about 105,800 per weekday as of the fourth quarter of 2021. As of 2022 its fleet comprised 518 buses and 207 paratransit vehicles, providing daily service on 103 routes. TheBus is privately managed by the nonprofit Oahu Transit Services Inc., which operates the system under a public-private partnership with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services.
Peter Benson Carlisle is an American politician and attorney who served as the 13th Mayor of Honolulu, Hawaii from 2010 to 2013. Prior to serving as interim Mayor following the resignation of former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, Carlisle had served as the Prosecuting Attorney of Honolulu from 1996 to 2010.
Muliufi Francis Hannemann is an American politician, businessman, and non-profit executive. He was elected twice as Mayor of Honolulu in 2004 and 2008. Hannemann has served as a special assistant in Washington, D.C., with the Department of the Interior, where he was selected for a White House fellowship in the Reagan administration under Vice President George H. W. Bush. He also served as chairman of the Honolulu City Council. He is the first person of Samoan descent and the second member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve as Mayor of Honolulu.

She was also a member of the Hawaii Senate between 1981 and 1994.
The Honolulu Rail Transit Project is a light metro system under construction in Honolulu County, Hawaii, U.S. The mostly elevated system features design elements from both heavy rail systems and light metros, with a commuter-rail-like design incorporated into trains and suburban stations. It will become the first large-scale publicly run metro system in the United States to feature platform screen doors and driverless trainsets. The first phase of the project, linking East Kapolei on the ʻEwa Plain and Aloha Stadium, is scheduled to open by the end of 2022. Its second phase continuing the line across urban Honolulu to the Ala Moana Center terminus is due to open in March 2031.
The 2010 Honolulu special mayoral election was held on September 18, 2010. The election coincided with Hawaii's primary election. The winner of the election, Peter Carlisle, filled the unexpired term of former Democratic Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, who resigned on July 20, 2010 to run in the 2010 election for Governor of Hawaii.

Gill served as Chair of the Council from October 10, 1992 until July 18, 1994, when he resigned from council to run for Mayor of Honolulu, losing to incumbent mayor Jeremy Harris.

The 2022 Tennessee gubernatorial election will take place on November 8, 2022, to elect the governor of Tennessee. Incumbent Republican Governor Bill Lee will be eligible to seek a second term, and has announced his intent to do so. The winner of the 2022 gubernatorial election is scheduled to be sworn in on January 21, 2023.
