The Parliament of the Republic of South Africa is South Africa's legislature;under the present Constitution of South Africa,the bicameral Parliament comprises a National Assembly and a National Council of Provinces. The current twenty-seventh Parliament was first convened on 22 May 2019.
The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa,located in Cape Town,Western Cape. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every five years using a party-list proportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from nine provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality.
General elections were held in South Africa on 8 May 2019 to elect a new President,National Assembly and provincial legislatures in each province. These were the sixth elections held since the end of apartheid in 1994 and determined who would become the next President of South Africa.

Johan Jaco Londt is a South African politician who serves as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces. He has held the office since May 2019 and previously held it from May 2014 until September 2018. He is a member of the Western Cape provincial delegation. Between September 2018 and May 2019,he served as a member of the National Assembly. Londt is a member of the Democratic Alliance (DA). He was chairperson of the party's east region in the Western Cape from 2015 to 2020.
Mmabatho Olive Mokause is a South African politician serving as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from the Northern Cape since March 2020. She is a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Mokause was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from May 2014 to April 2015. She was appointed to the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of Parliament,in April 2015 and served in the chamber until January 2018. After the May 2019 general election,she returned to the National Assembly,but resigned in September. In March 2020,she was selected to represent the EFF in the upper house.
Brett Norton Herron is a South African politician and attorney who has been a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since February 2022. He was a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from May 2019 until February 2022. Herron is the secretary-general of the GOOD party. He was the party's candidate for Mayor of Cape Town in the 2021 municipal elections.
Ngwanamakwetle Reneiloe Mashabela is a South African politician from the Economic Freedom Fighters party. She has been a Member of Parliament (MP) in the National Assembly of South Africa since May 2014. Mashabela is a member of the central command team of the EFF.
Nceba Ephraim Hinana is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from May 2019 until his resignation in March 2023. He was a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from May 2014 to May 2019.
Mgcini Tshwaku is a South African politician and member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) who has served as the City of Johannesburg's Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Safety and Security since 2023. Prior to serving as Johannesburg city council,he was a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature between 2014 and 2017 and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2017 until 2023.
Denis Joseph is a South African politician from the Western Cape. A member of the Democratic Alliance,he was elected as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces in 2011. He served in the NCOP until his election to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament in 2014. After the 2019 election,Joseph returned to Parliament to serve as an MP in the National Assembly.
The 2019 Eastern Cape provincial election was held on 8 May 2019,concurrently with the 2019 South African general election,to elect the 63 members of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature. The election was won by the African National Congress,the incumbent governing party in the province.
The 2019 Free State provincial election was held on 8 May 2019,concurrently with the 2019 South African general election,to elect the 30 members of the Free State Provincial Legislature.
