The Big Sky Conference women's soccer tournament is the conference championship tournament in soccer for the Big Sky Conference. The tournament has been held every year since 1997. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner, declared conference champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I women's soccer championship.

Contents

Format

The teams are seeded based on the order of finish in the conference's round robin regular season. The top six finishers qualify for the tournament. Tiebreakers begin with the result of the head-to-head matchup. The teams are then placed in a single-elimination bracket, with the top two seeds receiving a first round bye, until meeting in a final championship game. After two overtime period, ties are broken by shootout rounds, with the winner of the shootout advancing. [1]

The Big Sky Conference women's basketball tournament is held at the end of each women's college basketball regular season. The tournament was first conducted by the Big Sky Conference at the end of the 1988–89 season, the first in which the conference sponsored women's sports. The Big Sky includes in its history the preceding six years of the Mountain West Athletic Conference, a women's athletic league consisting mostly of Big Sky members that operated from 1982 to 1988, so the inaugural tournament was in March 1983.. The tournament winner receives the Big Sky's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

The South Florida Bulls women's soccer team represents the University of South Florida in the sport of soccer. The Bulls currently compete in the American Athletic Conference within Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The Bulls play in Corbett Stadium along with USF's men's soccer team, which opened in 2011. Prior to that, they played at what is now the USF Track and Field Stadium.

The five-match tournament took place at Jackson Stadium, home of the regular-season champions Montana Grizzlies. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Montana Grizzlies were the defending champions and did not successfully defended their title, losing to the Northern Colorado Bears in the semifinals. Northern Colorado would go on to win the tournament, with a 1–0 win over Eastern Washington in the final. This was the second overall title for Northern Colorado, and the second title for coach Tim Barrera.

The Montana Grizzlies were the defending champions and successfully defended their title by defeating Weber State in the Finals. This was the sixth overall title for Montana, and the third title for coach Chris Citowicki. Montana and coach Citowicki have won three of the last four Big Sky Conference Tournaments. As tournament champions, Montana earned the Big Sky's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.

The 2022 Big 12 Conference women's soccer tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Big 12 Conference held from October 30 to November 6, 2022. The 7-match tournament was held at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. The 8-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The TCU Horned Frogs were the defending champions from 2021.

The five-match tournament took place at Jackson Stadium, home of the Northern Colorado Bears. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Montana Grizzlies were the defending champions. Montana was unable to defend their title as they lost to Idaho in the Semifinals. Northern Arizona won their first title since 2014 by defeating Idaho in the final on penalties 4–3 after the game finished tied 0–0. This was the fourth overall title for Montana, and the first title for head coach Alan Berrios. As tournament champions, Northern Arizona earned the Big Sky's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.

Northern Arizona was unable to defend their title as they lost to Idaho in the Final. The 2–1 victory gave Idaho their first Big Sky Conference title. This was the first overall title for Idaho, and the first title for head coach Jeremy Clevenger. As tournament champions, Idaho earned the Big Sky's automatic berth into the 2023 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.
