Birger Brandtzæg (29 April 1893 – 16 July 1971) was a Norwegian merchant and owner of a fishing station. He was born in Abelvær. He established the company Brandtzæg Canning in Abelsvær. He was decorated Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1952. [1]
Abelvær is a fishing village in Nærøy municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located on the small island of Store Kalvøy at the mouth of the Foldafjord. The village areas of Ramsta and Steine lie just to the northeast of Abelvær. There is a road connection to the mainland from Abelvær.
