History
Bishop Grimes Junior/Senior High School was established in 1966. It is named after the second bishop of Syracuse, John Grimes. [4] "Originally, the school was staffed by members of the Marist Fathers, priests from the Syracuse Diocese, sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, and by lay teachers. Today, the school is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of community leaders, alumni, and clergy. The Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, staff, and coaches are dedicated to carrying out the school’s mission by providing a rigorous, high-quality, Catholic educational experience." The school has had students from almost every public school district in Onondaga County. Plus, they have had kids of each Catholic parish in the Diocese of Syracuse. In 2005, they were in the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in the USA based on academics by the Cardinal Newman Society. [5]
Academics and student life
Bishop Grimes has an on-site chapel, monthly Masses, Theology classes, including retreats for each grade. They have 43 JV, modified, and varsity sports teams and two gymnasiums including a field that they can practice on. They offer the opportunity to take either Spanish or French, plus, they can go on tours abroad. They also provide the opportunity to take a band class, a chorus class, and/or drama. The school cooperates with Le Moyne College and offers Advanced Placement Courses. This means that people with high grades on their PSATs can take Le Moyne classes at only a fraction of the price. To assist those with special needs, they have a teacher who is a full-time IEP and a 504-Plan instructor. Financial aid and scholarships are ready with the proper documentation. The Class of 2020 received over $5,000,000 in scholarships, including financial awards. All students that come to Bishop Grimes get a congratulatory iPad for enrolling in the school starting in September 2021. They historically had Chromebooks for quite a few years until 2021. [6]
Graduation requirements
In order to graduate, students need four credits for Theology, four credits for ELA, four credits for Social Studies, four credits for Mathematics, four credits for Science, four credits for a foreign language (Spanish or French; Grimes historically had German and Latin until the 2014-2015 year), one credit for Art/Music, two credits for P.E, 0.5 credits for Health, and 0.5 credits for Electives. In total, students need at least 36 credits to graduate. Students may take honors classes starting in the 8th Grade. [7]

The Academy of Saint Joseph, in Brentwood, New York, was a Catholic college-preparatory school for Kindergarten to Grade 12, single-sex for girls grades 9 - 12. The academy was founded in 1856, by the Sisters of Saint Joseph named after Saint Joseph. At the request of the Bishop of Brooklyn, Mother Austin Kean came from Philadelphia to Brooklyn to found what is now the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, New York. She was accompanied by Sister Baptista Hanson and Sister Theodosia Hegeman from Buffalo. It closed in 2009, after a 153-year history of educating the youth of Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island.
Holy Apostles College and Seminary is a Catholic seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut. It was founded in 1956 on a 40-acre (160,000 m2) property in Cromwell by Eusebe M. Menard to provide a program of education and formation for men intending to enter the priesthood.
Paul VI High School is a private Catholic high school located in Haddon Township, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As there is no post office in Haddon Township, the mailing address is Haddonfield. The school, founded in 1966, is named in honor of Pope Paul VI and is overseen by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Camden. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1979 and is accredited until July 2030.
Christian Brothers Academy is a private, Catholic, college preparatory, junior and senior high school for boys founded in 1859 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers. Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) is located in the town of Colonie, New York near the Albany International Airport on a 126-acre (0.51 km2) campus built in 1998. Christian Brothers Academy is independently run by a board of trustees.
Stella Maris High School was an all-girls, private, Roman Catholic high school on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, New York. It was located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. The highlight event of this school was "Blue And Gold," a school spirit event where the freshman and seniors competed against the sophomores and juniors in a series of events. This school overlooked the Atlantic Ocean.
Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School is a private, Roman Catholic, co-educational, college-preparatory high school located at 357 Clermont Avenue in the Ft. Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The school serves students in grades 9 through 12. Loughlin was founded in 1851 and was the first high school in the Diocese of Brooklyn (1853), but today is run independently by the Christian Brothers in the Lasallian educational tradition.
Holy Name High School was a four-year comprehensive coeducational Roman Catholic preparatory/secondary school located in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was approved and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the Diocese of Allentown. The school's athletic rivals included Wyomissing Area High School and Reading Central Catholic High School.
John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School was an all-girls Roman Catholic high school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. It is the country's first all-girls diocesan Catholic high school.

St. John Villa Academy, owned and operated by the Sisters of St. John the Baptist, was located on the east shore of Staten Island, in the Arrochar neighborhood, overlooking the Verrazzano–Narrows Bridge and Lower New York Bay.
