Bommelerwaard is a district in Gelderland, Netherlands.

The Bommelerwaard is situated among three rivers: the Meuse (Dutch : Maas) in the south(east), the Waal in the north and the Afgedamde Maas in the west. It is formed by the area of two municipalities: Zaltbommel and Maasdriel.

The Elm is a range of hills north of the Harz mountains in the Helmstedt and Wolfenbüttel districts of Lower Saxony, Germany. It has a length of about 25 km (15.5 mi) and a width of 3–8 km (2–5 mi) and rises to an elevation of 323 meters. Surrounded by the Northern European Lowlands, the Elm is almost uninhabited and the largest beech forest in Northern Germany. The hills are of a triassic limestone called Elmkalkstein. Together with the neighbouring Lappwald range, the Elm has been a protected nature park since 1977.

The Ameralik Span is the longest span of an electrical overhead power line in the world. It is situated near Nuuk on Greenland and crosses Ameralik fjord with a span width of 5,376 m (17,638 ft) at 64°6′18″N51°14′16″W. It was built in 1993 by the Norwegian company NTE Entreprise and is part of a single-circuit 132 kV powerline running from Buksefjord hydroelectric power plant to Nuuk.

The Heusden Canal is a canal on the border of the Dutch provinces North Brabant and Gelderland, roughly between Wijk en Aalburg and Heusden. The canal connects the Afgedamde Maas and Bergse Maas and has a total length of approximately 2.3 km. The canal used to connect the city of Heusden to the main branch of the river Meuse. Later on, the original main branch was closed off and the river received a new, artificial mouth: the Bergse Maas. After that, the Heusden Canal was improved to maintain a shipping connection between the two Meuse branches.

The siege of Zaltbommel was a campaign that took place during the Eighty Years' War and the Anglo–Spanish War from 15 May to 22 July 1599. The Spanish led by Francisco López de Mendoza y Mendoza launched an offensive campaign around Bommelerwaard, which was defended by an Anglo-Dutch force under the command of Maurice of Orange. A siege on the town of Zaltbommel by Spanish troops was attempted but they had to lift the siege and were defeated in subsequent attempts to regain the initiative. Mendoza retreated and the Spanish army then found itself in chaos: mutinies took effect and as a result further operations were suspended for a number of years. As a result, the Dutch and English followed with a counter-offensive in the Spanish Netherlands.

Sərkərli is a village in the Khachmaz Rayon of Azerbaijan. It was founded in the nineteenth century as an Eastern Orthodox village of Borispol by migrants from what is now central Ukraine. The original population gradually left; the village was resettled by ethnic Azeris from neighbouring villages and renamed Sərkərli in 1992. The village forms part of the municipality of Yergüc. An archaeological site containing early-Bronze Age artifacts and an eighth-century burial site was discovered nearby.
