Brendan Dugan (born 29 February 1952) is a New Zealand musician. [1]
Dugan's career began in 1968 at the age of sixteen, when he appeared on the television show New Faces and won the talent contest.
He subsequently released three albums for the British record label HMV before pairing with Gray Bartlett to make two singles. Dugan was later contracted to perform for US troops in Army bases throughout South-East Asia and later for the New Zealand Tourism Board to promote New Zealand in theatres throughout America. Dugan became a household name in New Zealand in the 1980s, starring on the television show That's Country. He was named New Zealand Entertainer of the Year in 1985. [1] In 1990 Dugan, Bartlett and Jodi Vaughan reunited for the Together Again album on Festival and tour. The album hit number one and the tour was at the time the most successful ever in New Zealand. [1] In 2018 he celebrated fifty years as an entertainer with the release of single "Honky Tonk Heroes". [2] It spent four weeks at #1 on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart.
Brendan Dugan received the Benny Award in October 2018 from the Variety Artists Club of New Zealand. It is the highest honor for a "variety entertainer" in New Zealand. [3]
Crowded House are a rock band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in 1985. Its founding members were New Zealander Neil Finn and Australians Paul Hester (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass). Diane Marie Jacobs, known as Dinah Lee, is a New Zealand singer who performed 1960s pop and adult contemporary music. Her debut single from early 1964, "Don't You Know Yockomo?", achieved No. 1 chart success in New Zealand and in the Australian cities of Brisbane and Melbourne. It was followed in September by her cover version of Jackie Wilson's, "Reet Petite", which also reached No. 1 in New Zealand and peaked at No. 6 in Melbourne. The Australian release was a double A-sided single with "Do the Blue Beat". On her early singles she was backed by fellow New Zealanders, Max Merritt & His Meteors. Lee appeared regularly on both New Zealand and Australian TV variety programs, including Johnny O'Keefes Sing, Sing, Sing and Bandstand. She toured supporting Johnny O'Keefe, as well as Ray Columbus & the Invaders and P.J. Proby. According to Australian rock music journalist, Ed Nimmervoll, in the 1960s, "Lee was the most successful female singer in both her New Zealand homeland and Australia ... on stage and on record Dinah had all the adventure and exuberance for the time the boys had".
The Variety Artists Club of New Zealand Inc (VAC) is a non-for-profit organisation and show business club. It was founded in 1966 and became an incorporated society in 1972. The VAC was formed to promote goodwill within the New Zealand entertainment industry and foster a spirit of loyalty, friendship and cooperation between members. Each year the VAC presents a number of New Zealand entertainment awards including the prestigious Benny Award.

He toured and released an album with Maria Dallas in 1967. In the early 1970s, Lemon was a regular performer on the television country music variety show The Country Touch, hosted by Tex Morton.
