The foreign relations of Canada are Canada's relations with other governments and nations. Canada is recognized as a middle power for its role in international affairs with a tendency to pursue multilateral solutions. Canada's foreign policy based on international peacekeeping and security is carried out through coalitions and international organizations, and through the work of numerous federal institutions. Canada's peacekeeping role during the 20th century has played a major role in its global image. The strategy of the Canadian government's foreign aid policy reflects an emphasis to meet the Millennium Development Goals, while also providing assistance in response to foreign humanitarian crises.
Hans Island is a barren uninhabited island with an area of 1.3 km2 (0.50 sq mi), measuring 1,290 by 1,199 m, in the centre of the Kennedy Channel of Nares Strait—the strait that separates Ellesmere Island from northern Greenland and connects Baffin Bay with the Lincoln Sea. Hans Island is the smallest of three islands in Kennedy Channel off the Washington Land coast; the others are Franklin Island and Crozier Island. The strait at this point is 35 km (22 mi) wide, placing the island within the territorial waters of both Canada and Greenland (Denmark). A theoretical line in the middle of the strait goes through the island.
Kringle is a Northern European pastry, a variety of pretzel. Pretzels were introduced by Roman Catholic monks in the 13th century in Denmark, and from there they spread throughout Scandinavia and evolved into several kinds of sweet, salty or filled pastries, all in the shape of kringle.
Per Johan Valentin Anger was a Swedish diplomat. Anger was Raoul Wallenberg's co-worker at the Swedish legation in Budapest during World War II when many Jews were saved because they were supplied with Swedish passports. After the war, he spent a lot of time trying to clarify Wallenberg's fate.

The first Persian envoy to Denmark arrived in 1691 in order to negotiate the release of the Iranian-owned cargo of a Bengali ship seized by the Danish fleet. The Iranian diplomat had been issued with diplomatic credentials by Suleiman I of Persia and opened negotiations with King Christian V of Denmark. He was unable to secure the release of the cargo.

Théodore Jean Arcand, LL.D. was a Canadian former diplomat. He was Chargé d'Affaires a.i. to Holy See at the beginning of his career then followed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Jordan, Lebanon and Syria concurrently. This was followed by a diplomatic appointments to Hungary and Denmark. He was later named again to the Holy See. He received an honorary doctorate from McMaster University in 1995.
Norman Frederick Henderson Berlis was a Canadian diplomat. He was Secretary and Officer-in-charge Permanent Delegation to the United Nations in Geneva then High Commissioner to Tanganyika, Tanzania then Uganda. He was also ambassador to Kenya and High Commissioner to Zanzibar and then the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Poland, Austria, and to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization then to Denmark. During his time as ambassador to Austria, on behalf of the Government of Canada he signed Canada's Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons with the International Atomic Energy Agency's Sigvard Eklund.

Canada recognized Israel on 11 May 1949, almost one year after the Israeli Declaration of Independence, and currently maintains an embassy in Tel Aviv; Israel maintains an embassy in Ottawa and regional consulates in Montreal and Toronto.
Denmark–Russia relations involve the relationship between the two countries of Denmark and Russia. The Kings of Denmark and the Russian Tsars interacted from the 15th century onwards - subsequently Denmark's control of access to and from the Baltic Sea had considerable significance for the trade and naval flexibility of the Russian Empire, while rivalries between Denmark and Sweden on the one hand and between Sweden and Russia on the other led to alliances and military support. Denmark and the USSR established diplomatic relations on 18 June 1924.

Denmark recognized Kazakhstan on December 31, 1991 and diplomatic relations were established on May 6, 1992. Neither country has a resident ambassador. Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United Kingdom is accredited to Denmark. Since 2005, the honorary consul of Denmark is Per Karlsen, with the residency in Moscow. Denmark opened a trade mission in Almaty in 2005.

A protocol department decides on diplomatic immunity and privileges, diplomatic host security, diplomatic use of airspace and it is the guardian of official etiquette. Advance protocol teams, usually headed by the Chief of Protocol, engage as first contact between governments for the planning of bilateral and multilateral summits and visits.
