The Bridgeport Newfield Steelers were an American basketball team based in Bridgeport, Connecticut that was a member of the American Basketball League. Before the 1949/50 season, the team became the Bridgeport Aer-A-Sols and for their final season was renamed the Bridgeport Roesslers.

William Lucas Lush was an American baseball player and college athletics coach and administrator. He played seven seasons of Major League Baseball from 1895 to 1904, including three with the Washington Senators. He later worked as a college athletics coach at Yale University, Columbia University, Fordham University, the United States Naval Academy, St. John's University, the University of Baltimore and Trinity College, Hartford. He also held athletic director positions at Fordham and the Naval Academy. In the 1930s, he coached athletic teams at Sing Sing prison in Ossining, New York.
Joshua Wilder Tasker was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach. He served as the head football coach at Connecticut Agricultural College—now known as the University of Connecticut—from 1921 to 1922, the College of William & Mary from 1923 to 1927, and Rutgers University from 1931 to 1937, compiling a career college football record of 67–52–11. Wilder was also the head basketball coach at Connecticut from 1921 to 1923 and William & Mary from 1923 to 1928, tallying a career college basketball mark of 66–49. In addition he served as the head baseball coach at Connecticut (1922–1923), William & Mary (1924–1928), and Rutgers (1932–1937), amassing a career college baseball record of 88–108–4.
William James Kotsores was an American basketball player best known for his collegiate career at St. John's University in the 1940s. He played on the school's team during the 1943–44 and 1944–45 seasons. Each year, the Red Storm advanced to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), which at the time was considered the premier men's college basketball postseason tournament. St. John's won the NIT during Kotsores' junior year, and he was named the 1944 NIT Tournament MVP after scoring 40 points in three games. The following year, St. John's failed to repeat at NIT champions, but Kotsores was honored with the Haggerty Award. The Haggerty Award is given annually to the best male collegiate basketball player in the New York City metropolitan area every year since 1935–36. After a solid career at St. John's in which he was twice named an All-American, Kotsores played two seasons in the American Basketball League, one with the Elizabeth Braves and the other with the Bridgeport Newport Steelers. Walter Luckett Jr. is an American former basketball player. Luckett starred at the prep level for Kolbe High School in his hometown of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and played college basketball for the Ohio Bobcats between 1972 and 1975. Following his junior season at Ohio, he declared for the 1975 NBA draft where he was selected by the Detroit Pistons. Luckett played for one season in the Eastern Basketball Association (EBA) with the Long Island Sounds and was named Rookie of the Year in 1976.
Chris Casey is an American head college basketball coach. He is currently the head coach for the Fairfield Stags men's basketball team. He was the head coach of the Niagara Purple Eagles men's basketball team. On March 11, 2019, he was released. He finished at Niagara with a six-year record of 64–129. He took over the head coach position after former head coach Jay Young stepped down as head coach on October 16, 2023. Casey was the interim head coach through the whole of the regular season, but was named head coach on March 12, 2024.
