Bryan R. Klipfel

Colonel Bryan R. Klipfel was the superintendent of the North Dakota Highway Patrol from 2003-2007 and is a native of Ashley, North Dakota. He has been a member of the highway patrol since 1980. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota (1975) and of the FBI National Academy (1987) in Quantico, Virginia.

North Dakota Highway Patrol

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is the state patrol agency for the state of North Dakota. It was established in 1935 by the North Dakota Legislative Assembly.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is the state government agency charged with building and maintaining the state and Federal highways in the U.S. State of Nebraska, as well as the state's airports. The main headquarters of the agency is located in Lincoln, the capital city. There are currently eight NDOT district offices located across the state.

South Dakota Highway Patrol

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is the State Police agency for South Dakota, which has jurisdiction everywhere in the state except for sovereign Native American reservations. It was created to protect the lives, property and constitutional rights of people in South Dakota. In addition to enforcement of laws, the SDHP has regional SWAT teams that provide tactical and warrant services to police and Sheriff Departments. The SDHP is also responsible for training K-9 teams to law enforcement agencies in South Dakota. The SDHP also has a division responsible for executive protection of the state dignitaries and protection of the capital grounds and administrative state buildings and grounds. It currently has an authorized strength of 189 sworn personnel.

In the United States, the state police is a police body unique to each U.S. state, having statewide authority to conduct law enforcement activities and criminal investigations. In general, state police officers, known as state troopers, perform functions that do not fall within the jurisdiction of the county sheriff, such as enforcing traffic laws on state highways and interstate expressways, overseeing the security of the state capitol complex, protecting the governor, training new officers for local police forces too small to operate an academy and providing technological and scientific services. They support local police and help to coordinate multi-jurisdictional task force activity in serious or complicated cases in those states that grant full police powers statewide.

South Dakota Wing Civil Air Patrol

South Dakota Wing Civil Air Patrol is the highest echelon of CAP in the state of South Dakota. The wing headquarters is at the Rapid City Regional Airport in Rapid City, South Dakota. SDWG reports to CAP's North Central Region, which in turn reports to CAP National Headquarters at Maxwell AFB, Alabama. The wing consists of squadrons, the basic unit of CAP. At present SDWG consists of three administrative squadrons and eight "composite" squadrons that are composed of cadets and senior members. SDWG is currently commanded by Colonel Nicholas Gengler.
