Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, is a public research university established on 8 February 1918 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Excluding academies and theological seminaries, which have intermittently functioned in Georgia for centuries, TSU is the oldest university in Georgia and the Caucasus region. Over 18,000 students are enrolled and the total number of faculty and staff (collaborators) is 5,000. According to the U.S. News & World Report university rankings, TSU is ranked 359th in the world, tied with the University of Warsaw.

Paata Burchuladze Georgian politican and Opera singer

Paata Burchuladze is a Georgian operatic bass and civil activist. After his debut in his native Tbilisi in 1976, he embarked on a 35-year-long musical career during which he made appearances at leading opera houses across Europe and the United States. Through his foundation, he became involved in children charity in Georgia in 2004. From May to December 2016, Burchuladze briefly entered politics of Georgia, founding the political party State for the People to challenge the incumbent Georgian Dream coalition government in the scheduled October 2016 parliamentary election, in which the party failed to win any seat in the legislature. Since July 2017, Burchuladze has been leading the opera division of Moscow's Mikhailovsky Theatre, one of Russia's oldest opera and ballet houses.

2011 Georgia State Panthers football team

The 2011 Georgia State Panthers football team represented Georgia State University in the 2011 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Panthers were led by second year head coach Bill Curry and played their home games at the Georgia Dome. Although Georgia State is a full member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), the Panthers played as an FCS independent. This was their second season in program history and last as an independent. They became a football member of the CAA in 2012. They finished the season with a record of 3-8.

The 2015 Georgia Bulldogs football team represented the University of Georgia in the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bulldogs played their home games at Sanford Stadium. They were members of the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. They were led by Mark Richt in the regular season. Richt was relieved of duties following the season and Bryan McClendon was named interim head coach and offensive coordinator for the Tax Slayer Bowl vs Penn State. The season featured many highs such as beating rivals Auburn and Georgia Tech and also featured a lopsided victory over division opponent South Carolina. 2015 also featured losses the Georgia athletic department deemed to be too costly for Mark Richt to continue as head coach. Tennessee came back from a multi-score deficit to defeat Georgia. Alabama, who was actually an underdog to Georgia, beat The Bulldogs decisively at Sanford stadium. Georgia’s final defeat was to the rival Gators. To many UGA followers the ineptitude on offense in this game caused a severe lack of confidence in the Richt regime going forward.

Girchi is a libertarian party in Georgia, split from the United National Movement (UNM), and chaired by Iago Khvichia. It was founded, in November 2015, after the four lawmakers—Zurab Japaridze, Pavle Kublashvili, Giorgi Khachidze, and Giorgi Meladze—quit the UNM, the formerly ruling and then parliamentary minority group. The name girchi, "a pine cone", was chosen as a symbol of freshness and greenery.

The New Georgia (Georgian: ახალი საქართველო, is a political party in Georgia founded by Giorgi Vashadze, who and whose supporters left UNM after party conflict, party declared itself as a Liberal. Party took part in Georgian parliamentary election, 2016 in a bloc State for a People, lead by Paata Burchuladze, with 3.45% of votes, it could not overcome barrier to enter the Parliament.
