The Canadian Forces Language School (CFLS) is an institution of the Canadian Forces responsible for providing language education. The CFLS has its headquarters in Gatineau, Quebec, along with its National Capital Region Training Company, and detachments at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and Borden, Ontario. Since 1993, CFLS Detachment Borden, located at Bldg P 153, has been teaching English as a Foreign Language to military officers from Central and Eastern European countries and Far East Countries. Currently, 17 European and 2 Far Eastern countries are represented at the school.
Language education refers to the process and practice of acquiring a second or foreign language. It is primarily a branch of applied linguistics, however can be considered an interdisciplinary field. There are four main learning categories for language education: communicative competencies, proficiencies, cross-cultural experiences, and multiple literacies.

The course is sponsored by the Military Training Assistance Program, one of Canada's initiatives through the Partnership for Peace Programme. CFLS offers two 17-week and four 10-week courses annually. The objective is to provide foreign officers with a working ability in English, while acquainting them with the Canadian Forces and Canadian society. The officers, ranging from Second Lieutenants to Generals, have served or may serve on with NATO, the UN, or as military attachés.

In 24 October 1945, at the end of World War II, the organization was established with the aim of preventing future wars. At its founding, the UN had 51 member states; there are now 193. The UN is the successor of the ineffective League of Nations.
A geographic coordinate system is a coordinate system that enables every location on Earth to be specified by a set of numbers, letters or symbols. The Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) or, informally, the Q Course is the initial formal training program for entry into the United States Army Special Forces. Phase I of the Q Course is Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS). Getting "Selected" at SFAS will enable a candidate to continue to the next of the four phases. If a candidate successfully completes all phases he or she will graduate as a Special Forces qualified soldier and then, generally, be assigned to a 12-man Operational Detachment "A" (ODA), commonly known as an "A team." The length of the Q Course changes depending on the applicant's primary job field within Special Forces and their assigned foreign language capability but will usually last between 56 and 95 weeks.
