The Center for Global Dialogue and Cooperation (CGDC) is an Austrian international non-governmental organisation. The foundation's headquarters is in Vienna. [1] Its founding members are the former President of Bulgaria, Petar Stoyanov, Bulgarian consultant Stamen Stantchev, former Austrian conservative politician Walter Schwimmer, former Austrian minister of defence Werner Fasslabend and Belgian businessman Etienne Declercq. [2]

Bulgaria, officially the Republic of Bulgaria, is a country in Southeast Europe. It is bordered by Romania to the north, Serbia and North Macedonia to the west, Greece and Turkey to the south, and the Black Sea to the east. The capital and largest city is Sofia; other major cities are Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas. With a territory of 110,994 square kilometres (42,855 sq mi), Bulgaria is Europe's 16th-largest country.
The aim of the foundation is, according to their official website, to support emerging countries "in becoming more efficient, capable and stable partners in Europe and worldwide." [3] ”

Jeff Greene is an American real estate entrepreneur. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was a candidate in the 2010 Senate election primaries in Florida. He was a candidate in the 2018 Florida Gubernatorial election, but was eliminated in the primary, finishing in fourth place behind eventual nominee Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, whom Greene later endorsed.
Hemant Kanoria is the chairman of Kolkata-based company Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited He is also the Chairman of India Power Corporation Ltd.(IPCL) and on the Board of Trustees for Kanoria Foundation, which has assets worth US$10 billion. Hemant is currently serving as a Board Member of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati, the Neotia University and the New Delhi Institute of Management.
Rick Yune is a Korean-American actor, screenwriter, producer, martial artist and former model. His most notable roles have been in the movies Snow Falling on Cedars, the first Fast and Furious film The Fast and the Furious, and in the James Bond movie Die Another Day. He was part of the main cast of the Netflix original series Marco Polo until the series was cancelled on December 12, 2016.
CGDC organises an annual gala. In 2012 the organizers invited Bill Clinton to give a speech, for which he received 500,000 dollars. [5] In 2013 Clinton was again invited but did not show up, amid speculation about a conviction against CGDC secretary general Stamen Stantchev by a Romanian court. [6]
The President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso did take part in the ceremony, where he received the Center for Global Dialogue and Cooperation’s Award for “Enhancing Mutual Understanding and Dialogue amongst Diverse People” at the closing event of the 3rd Center’s Annual Meeting. [7]

In December 2013 a Romanian court sentenced CGDC secretary general Stamen Stantchev in absentia to 11 years in prison. [8] Two former Romanian ministers were also convicted. The court ruled that the group had formed an international criminal organisation and stole state secrets. Austrian police has also started investigations involving shady privatisation deals in the Romanian energy sector. Stantchev was already imprisoned in 2006 in connection with similar accusations. [9]

She is a member of the Christian Social People's Party, part of the European People's Party. She previously served as European Commissioner for Education and Culture from 1999 to 2004, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media from 2004 to 2010 and European Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship from 2010 to 2014.
The Barroso Commission was the European Commission in office from 22 November 2004 until 31 October 2014. Its president was José Manuel Barroso, who presided over 27 other commissioners. On 16 September 2009 Barroso was re-elected by the European Parliament for a further five years and his Commission was approved to take office on 9 February 2010.

Sergei Dmitrievich Stanishev is a Bulgarian politician who has served as President of the Party of European Socialists since November 2011 and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Bulgaria. He previously served as Prime Minister of Bulgaria from 2005 to 2009, Leader of the Socialist Party from 2001 to 2014 and Member of the National Assembly from 1997 to 2014.

Leonard Orban is a Romanian independent technocrat who served as the Commissioner for Multilingualism in the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union (EU). He was responsible for the EU language policy and was the first Romanian Commissioner and the first member of the Commission whose portfolio is exclusively multilingualism. His term of office began on 1 January 2007 and ended on 9 February 2010. With a background in engineering and economics, Orban has taken up various posts working for the accession of Romania to the European Union, most prominently as Deputy and later as Chief Negotiator for his country at the time of final negotiations with the European Union.
