The Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, located in the Hawthorne Race Course, in Stickney/Cicero, near Chicago, Illinois, honors sports greats associated with the Chicago metropolitan area. It was founded in 1979 as a trailer owned by the Olympia Brewing Company parked at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Chicago Park District took over the exhibits in 1983. From 1988 the exhibits were displayed in Mike Ditka's restaurant until the restaurant closed in 1991. The Hall of Fame moved to the Maryville Academy in Des Plaines in 1996 and has operated under the guidance of Father John P. Smyth since that time. As of 2008, it was operating at Hawthorne.
The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization promoting business in the Chicago metropolitan area of the United States. The organization is located in the Wrigley Building at 410 N. Michigan Avenue on Chicago's Magnificent Mile.
Chicagoland is a documentary series that debuted its pilot episode at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2014. It was aired on CNN in eight successive weekly broadcasts beginning March 6, 2014, and ending April 24, 2014. It is executive produced by Robert Redford and Laura Michalchyshyn and created by Mark Benjamin and Marc Levin. During its production, the documentary received assistance from the office of Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The Chicago metropolitan area, or Chicagoland, is the metropolitan area that includes the city of Chicago, Illinois, and its suburbs. With an estimated CSA population of 9.9 million people and an MSA population of 9.5 million people, it is the third largest metropolitan area in the United States.
Chicagoland Speedway is a 1.5 miles (2.4 km) tri-oval speedway in Joliet, Illinois, southwest of Chicago. The speedway opened in 2001 and used to host NASCAR racing including the opening event in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. Until 2011, the speedway also hosted the IndyCar Series, recording numerous close finishes including the closest finish in IndyCar history. The speedway is owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation.

Raymond Joseph Meyer was an American men's collegiate basketball coach from Chicago, Illinois. He was well known for coaching at DePaul University from 1942 to 1984, compiling a 724–354 record. Meyer coached DePaul to 21 post-season appearances.
The Camping World 400 is a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held annually at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois. The inaugural race was held in 2001. Previously, the race was held in July from 2001 through 2010, with night races held from 2008 to 2010. Then from 2011 to 2017, the races was held as the first race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs in the round of 16. In 2018, as part of the schedule realignment, the race was held on the first weekend of July, on Independence Day weekend.
Thomas "Tom" Allen Thayer is a former American football center/guard. He played in the National Football League for the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins, and won a Super Bowl as a member of the 1985 Chicago Bears. Prior to his NFL career, Thayer played in the USFL for the Chicago Blitz, Arizona Wranglers and the Arizona Outlaws from 1983 to 1985. He is currently the color commentator on WBBM Newsradio for Chicago Bears broadcasts.

Illinois also borders Michigan, but only via a northeastern water boundary in Lake Michigan. Illinois has a maximum north-south distance of 390 miles and 210 miles east-west. Its total area is 57,918 square miles (150,010 km2).
The Camping World 300 is a NASCAR Xfinity Series stock car race held annually at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois. In 2008 the race has been held at night under Chicagoland Speedway's new lighting system, after being held as a day race for the previous 7 years. However, in 2011, the race returned to daytime. From 2016–2017, it served as the final race of NASCAR's "regular season" for the Xfinity Series, Following the race, the top 12 drivers in points standings advance to the seven-race NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs. Starting in 2018, the race moved to June, the weekend before 4th of July. The new race that Las Vegas Motor Speedway acquired from Kentucky Speedway took Chicagoland's former spot.

From 2016–2017, it served as the final race of NASCAR's "regular season" for the Truck Series; followed the race, the top eight drivers in points standings advance to the seven-race NASCAR Camping World Truck Series playoffs, In 2018, the race that was in the fall will move to become the 11th race of the season.

Fenger Academy High School is a public 4–year high school located in the Roseland neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Fenger is a part of the Chicago Public Schools district. The school is named for Danish surgeon Christian Fenger. Fenger opened in 1893. Fenger, along with its former principal Elizabeth Dozier and numerous staff and students was featured prominently in the 2014 CNN documentary series Chicagoland.
The Owens Corning AttiCat 300 was a NASCAR Xfinity Series race held at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois. It replaced Gateway International Raceway as a part of the 2011 NASCAR Realignment. The race was replaced with a race at Pocono Raceway for the 2016 season.
