Chillcamayu (possibly from Quechua ch'illka baccharis , mayu river, [1] "baccharis river") which upstream is called Jampamayo and downstream Pitumarca is a river in Peru located in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, in the districts Checacupe and Pitumarca. Its waters flow to the Vilcanota River.

<i>Baccharis</i> genus of plants

Baccharis is a genus of perennials and shrubs in the aster family (Asteraceae). They are commonly known as baccharises but sometimes referred to as "brooms", because many members have small thin leaves resembling the true brooms. They are not at all related to these however, but belong to an entirely different lineage of eudicots. B. halimifolia is commonly known as "groundsel bush", however true groundsels are found in the genus Senecio.

Peru, officially the Republic of Peru, is a country in western South America. It is bordered in the north by Ecuador and Colombia, in the east by Brazil, in the southeast by Bolivia, in the south by Chile, and in the west by the Pacific Ocean. Peru is a megadiverse country with habitats ranging from the arid plains of the Pacific coastal region in the west to the peaks of the Andes mountains vertically extending from the north to the southeast of the country to the tropical Amazon Basin rainforest in the east with the Amazon river.

Chillcamayu originates in the Vilcanota mountain range between the mountains Jatunhuma in the north-west and Huayruro Punco in the south-east. It crosses the Pitumarca District from north-east to south-west along the villages of Jampa, Chillca and Pitumarca. One of its main tributaries from the left is Yanamayo (Quechua for "black river"). The confluence with the Vilcanota River is near Checacupe. [2]

It is situated in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District, and in the Quispicanchi Province, Ocongate District. Hatunuma lies northwest of the large lake named Sibinacocha and southeast of Callangate.

Huayruro Punco mountain in Peru

Huayruro Punco is a mountain in the Vilcanota mountain range in the Andes of Peru, about 5,550 metres (18,209 ft) high. It is situated in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District. Huayruro Punco lies southeast of Callangate, southwest of Chumpe and north of Cóndor Tuco and Comercocha, between the Chillcamayu which originates near Huayruro Punco and the lake named Sibinacocha.

It belongs to the watershed of the Vilcanota River.
