Choiseul/Shortlands was a single-member constituency of the Governing Council of the Solomon Islands. Created in 1970 when the Governing Council was created and the number of constituencies increased from 14 to 17, it covered Choiseul Island and the Shortland Islands.

The Governing Council (GovCo) was the legislature and executive of the Solomon Islands between 1970 and 1974.

Choiseul Island island

Choiseul Island, native name Lauru, is the largest island of the Choiseul Province, Solomon Islands, at 7.08°S 157°E.

The Shortland Islands are a group of islands belonging to the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, at 6.92°S 155.88°E. Named by John Shortland, they lie in the extreme northwest of the country's territory, close to the island of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. The largest island is Shortland Island. Other islands include Balalae Island, Ovau Island, Pirumeri Island, Faisi Island, Magusaiai Island, Masamasa Island, Fauro Island, and Ballale Island.

In the 1970 elections the seat was won by Remesio Eresi. [1] It was abolished in 1973 and succeeded by Choiseul and Shortlands/Vella Lavella.

Choiseul was a single-member constituency of the Governing Council and Legislative Assembly of the Solomon Islands. Created in 1973 when the Governing Council was expanded from 17 to 24 seats, it covered Choiseul Island, replacing the former Choiseul/Shortlands constituency.

Along the center spine of the island are Mount Pauboleala with an elevation of 574', Mount Lalauka with an elevation of 517', and Sharp Peak with an elevation of 484'.

'Are'are was a single-member constituency of the Governing Council and Legislative Assembly of the Solomon Islands. Created in 1973 when the Governing Council was expanded from 17 to 24 seats, it was located on the island of Malaita. In the 1973 elections the seat was won by David Kausimae, who had been elected in the South Central Malaita constituency in the 1970 elections, defeating defeated Peter Kenilorea. It was abolished in 1976 and succeeded by East 'Are'are and West 'Are'are.

Central Solomons was a single-member constituency of the Legislative Council of the Solomon Islands. It was created in 1967 and abolished in 1970 when the Governing Council was created. Its sole elected member, John Plant Hoka stood for re-election in the Ngella/Savo/Russells constituency in the 1970 elections.

It was succeeded by the First and Second Eastern Outer Islands constituencies, with the constituency's final MP, Moffat Bonunga, re-elected in the First constituency.
