Colin Stewart, born in Ottawa in 1961, is a Canadian diplomat. Since December 2021, he has been the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Representative for Cyprus, Head of the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and Deputy Special Adviser for Cyprus. From December 2017 until July 2021 he was Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara and Head of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). Stewart has also served with the United Nations in Timor-Leste, Indonesia and Ethiopia. As a Canadian diplomat he served in Ottawa, Helsinki and Jakarta. He has worked for international non-governmental organizations in Palestine, DR Congo and Somaliland.
Stewart holds a Baccalauréat Specialisé en Science Politique from Université Laval in Quebec City. [1]
Stewart is married to Sophie Khan and they have a son, Emile.
