It is named after Deep Run School, one of Henrico County's first schools which was a two-room schoolhouse that can still be found on the grounds of Short Pump Elementary School. The school had approximately over 1,700 students and over 76 faculty members during the 2015-16 school year.

The West End is a part of Richmond, Virginia. Definitions of the bounds of the West End vary, it may include only the western part of the city of Richmond or extend as far as western Henrico County. St. John's Church is an Episcopal church located at 2401 East Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia, United States. Formed from several earlier parishes, St. John's is the oldest church in the city of Richmond, Virginia. It was built in 1741 by William Randolph's son, Colonel Richard Randolph; the Church Hill district was named for it. It was the site of two important conventions in the period leading to the American Revolutionary War, and is famous as the location where Patrick Henry gave his memorable speech at the Second Virginia Convention, closing with the often-quoted demand, "give me liberty, or give me death!" The church is designated as a National Historic Landmark.

The Central Region was one of the four AAA regions in the Virginia High School League until 2013. It was made up of four districts: the AAA Capital District, the AAA Central District, the AAA Colonial District, and the AAA Dominion District. Group AAA was the largest enrollment class for VHSL schools, and typically AAA is the most competitive level as well. In 2013, the three classification format was eliminated in favor of a six classification system. Accordingly, the Central Region was eliminated, while the districts were retained for regular season competition.

The Capital District consist of public schools located East and Northeast of the James River in the Greater Richmond Region.

Virginia Randolph 19th and 20th-century American schoolteacher

Virginia Estelle Randolph was an African-American educator in Henrico County, Virginia. She was named the United States' first "Jeanes Supervising Industrial Teacher" by her Superintendent of Schools, Jackson T. Davis, and she led a program funded by the Jeanes Foundation to upgrade vocational training throughout the U.S. South as her career progressed. Her work is widely associated with vocational education. Two schools of the Henrico County Public Schools system were named in her honor and in 2009 Randolph was posthumously honored by the Library of Virginia as one of their "Virginia Women in History" for her career and contributions to education.

Capital City Classic

The Capital City Classic is a men's college basketball series between the VCU Rams and the Richmond Spiders. Both schools are located within Virginia's state capital of Richmond—Virginia Commonwealth University has its non-medical campus in the Fan District at the western edge of downtown and its medical campus in the downtown neighborhood of Court End, while the University of Richmond is located 6 miles (9.7 km) away in the West End on the border with Henrico County. It often has a public school (VCU) vs private school (Richmond) mentality.

Richmond, Virginia offers many educational opportunities. Its urban school system is an award-winning, certified excellent education district. There is also an expansive number of higher education colleges and universities, scattered throughout the Greater Richmond region. Also, the surrounding counties are also very successful school systems, Henrico establishing a first by initiating the Laptop program in 2001, the first in the nation to do so. Chesterfield and Hanover are also each systems with Blue Ribbon Schools. In latest years, the towns of Ashland, Virginia and Mechanicsville, Virginia have both been voted as the nation's top place to raise kids by BusinessWeek.

Laburnum Avenue is a C-shaped highway in Henrico County and the city of Richmond in the U.S. state of Virginia. The highway extends 14.50 miles (23.34 km) from Virginia State Route 895 near Varina southeast of Richmond to Interstate 195 (I-195) on the North Side of the city of Richmond. Laburnum Avenue is a four-lane divided highway that connects the city's inner suburbs in eastern Henrico County. The highway also serves as a major east–west street in Richmond, on part of which the highway forms part of SR 197. Laburnum Avenue intersects all of the radial highways on the east side of Richmond, including SR 5, U.S. Route 60, I-64, SR 33, US 360, and US 1 and US 301.

Lamont Bagby is an American politician of the Democratic Party. On November 3, 2015, he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 74th district, which includes Charles City County, parts of Henrico County and the City of Richmond. He is a former member of the Henrico County School Board.

Glen Allen High School Public high school in Henrico, Virginia, United States

Glen Allen High School is a public school located in Henrico County, Virginia. The mascot of GAHS is the Jaguar. The school's current principal is Reginald Davenport and was established in 2010, making it a fairly new school. Glen Allen is the 16th best high school in Virginia, the 533rd best high school in America, and is one of nine high schools in Henrico County. 65 percent of the student body participates in AP classes. The student body is 51 percent female and 49 percent male. 38 percent of the school is made up of minorities. Glen Allen has a 19:1 student-faculty ratio. Glen Allen is a Gold Level LEED Certified building, and is the only school in the county with this distinction.

Schuyler Thomas VanValkenburg is an American teacher and politician. He won election to the Virginia House of Delegates from the 72nd District, on November 7, 2017, to replace retiring delegate Jimmie Massie.
